Austin Williford the best guard in the game that first half.
I just noticed the EYBL website has livestream replays. Thatās a nice development.
Acaden starting to get loose. Off the dribble 3, then got downhill on a drive. Dixon had a pretty sweet pull-up 3 too.
Iām not sure what else Jordan Smith can do, but heās pretty good at dunks.
Cam Ward has a nice power game in the interior.
Man Im beating a dead horse, but Acaden Lewis reclassed would have been SUCH a better add than Dai Dai.
Doesnāt overlap too much with bliss. Bliss and Warley as the veteran pgs is more than enough. And Dai Dai isnāt really a plus creator or shooter.
(this weekend its just hitting me how bad of an add Dai Dai COULD be. Of course he could also hit and it all becomes moot. Also actually starting to wish we could also go after a guy like Ryan Crotty. Go for 3 kids in 2025, tell them the scholarships will be there)
I am somewhat with you from the perspectives of what their strengths are, but also Dai Daiās EYBL stats were pretty good? 18 ppg, 34.6% from 3, 52.8% from 2. Just in the spirit of comparing apples-to-apples, I donāt think they are like totally different levels of player.
Its not so much the stats but moreso the skillsets. I like how the pieces fit. Dai Dai isnāt terrible, he was a top 100 player for a reason.
Like Dai Daiās meh freshman stats at Kansas State actually dont turn me off and I actuallly do think there is something to take away from his play at the end of the season, Rohdeās inefficiency be damned.
But I dont think heās a better floor general than Bliss. And that second guard I want besides Bliss to be more dynamic and more of a microwave scoring potential (Mallory/Acaden). Dai Dai overlaps a little too much with Bliss while not being a dynamic enough scorer (doesnāt look comfortable shooting unless wide open). And at the same time takes away time for establishing Bliss as the leader of this team. If we had reclassed Acaden, he would have been brought in slowly and Warley and Bliss is more than enough as play making guards, especially since they can play together as well.
Of course no one has a crystal ball. Dai Dai could literally be the best pg Tony has ever had (itās possible for sure).
@HoozGotNext just tweeted Williford is currently watching the Ryan Crotty kid (formerly Kadinās high school but transferred to Miller School in Crozet) vs Dante Allen, the Miami combo guard he watched yesterday.
Silas Barksdale, instate forward who is kind a hybrid of Maliq Brown and Jayden Gardner, is having a hell of a game vs the boozer Twins. Someone on staff went to an open gym to watch him last summer I believe.
Kareem Stagg has also been having a really good weekend (Chesapeake kid but at IMG academy). But he kinda overlaps a lot with Cofie.
Probably not as good, but Crotty has been putting on a Kon Knueppel 3pt heater this weekend so far.
(court 3, box score below)
Looking at the schedule, wonder where Williford ends up for the 5pm games.
Acaden vs Jemison and Dixon/Williford vs Keith both on at the same time.
For the end of day 6:30pm games could see him at the team united game to check out Zimycah Wilkins (only interesting game in that slot)
@Hooandtrue , Iām just now sitting down to watch some games. Which games are we watching?
Lol Im not home, but looking at the schedule maybe the team Griffin game? Kaydon Rayfield (sp?) has mentioned UVA interest
Thanks

Nik Khameniaāa 6:50 est game is on Peacock (the NBC streaming service)⦠wut?
Canāt wait until we get to watch our recruits play in Peach Jam on Netflix.
Iām back in @Hoosthechamp
Trying to see if Williford is at Jemison/Acaden or Dixonās game for this stretch
edit: court 3. (Team takeover isnāt on yet, their court is behind)
Livestream ā Nike EYBL (stream, court 3)
London Jemison off to another good start⦠pls
Love it. Huge V Sabre front and center.
I only realized today thereās a younger Bronny playing AAU. I knew he existed, just never registered until thinking about why every SFG game has a huge crowd of spectators.
Heard Duke was sniffing around Derek Dixon a little.
