I thought of that but said screw it, there’s no jinxing on that course. It’s going to kill amateurs and most pros at some point.

He’s still got a chance to make the cut. He’s just got hover around par for today and hopefully pick up a birdie or two.
Nice finish for McCarthy yesterday, birdieing the last two to finish Even.
Fingers crossed he puts together another solid round today.
As for the other guys, obviously hope for good rounds, too. But either way, what a great experience.

James just drove it to about 4-5 feet for an eagle putt on 17 (his 8th).
5-over, but great chance to pick up a couple shots, or at least one.

well, hey, sometimes Mr. Irrelevant becomes an All-Pro in the NFL. So maybe this is a good thing.
On more positive news, James made his eagle and should easily make the cut to play through the weekend.

I spoke a little early, though. He’s dropped a couple shots on the past two holes, and the cut line has moved up a bit. Needs to play well on the rest of the tough front nine (his back).

Denny McCarthy has been on the struggle bus all day, shooting +4 to put him on the projected cut line. He’s got three holes to hopefully hang on and make it to the weekend.

I really wish he could put it all together for a tournament. He’s so good, just can’t get everything together all at once.

Ben James is probably going to need at least one birdie in his last two holes to have a shot at the weekend. Fingers crossed he can regroup and finish his round strong.

OTOH - Duangmanee at +35 in two rounds. Oof…not that I could do that at Oakmont!
But looks like McCarthy should advance given how many players are bunched and how the scoring is going.

Watched every shot by Spieth today as he shot 2 over and played really really well on this monstrosity of a course….playing this course reminded me of how teams probably felt playing against the Hoos 2014-2019… just play your best but don’t judge your game on that result.
Move on to actual real courses and don’t get frustrated. 2 guys withdrew to injury because of the rough.
