Morsell / McKoy Transfer Decision Discussion

This isn’t as bad as the McKoy cage meltdown but good lord you would think a program with a national title would have a fan base with thicker skins

Some got it
Some don’t
Probably prevents the dreaded knuckle ball

Curious outside of the Neckel tweet where you even found something in this thread you would consider bad?

Many of the reactions seemed to be criticisms of Morsell which felt really unnecessary

Criticisms of his game are completely fair imo. Just like Cam Hayes and Seaborn and Bates and the rest of the NC State team.

But if I recall from the spring you think we should all still cheer for McKoy and Morsell so we probably aren’t going to see eye to eye there.

Zero chance I cheer for them.

I wish them well in all future endeavors not directly related to their NCAA basketball playing careers.

It would be different for me if they both went to Iowa state. But they stayed in conference.

But they both might as well be far less talented versions of Christian laetnerd damn autocorrect

They are the enemy now.

One thing about Casey, and different than Justin, is Casey had his chance from day 1. Played tons of minutes as a first year etc. So at some point its kinda on the player I think

I also think Casey made the right decision for himself going to wherever State he went

Much more important topic than all of this-

Does anyone know if it’s “EE-gore” or “EYE-gore”? Thought I saw somebody say it was the latter somewhere.

This topic: what’s in bounds and out of bounds when talking about a player is sort of evergreen. There are no ideal answers. On one hand, they’re just kids and not being paid (at least by the school). On the other, hey ACC hoops is a big deal. My only guiding principle is just talk hoops and try not to be a jerk. These “exit interviews” are a bit fraught because as much as they caveat with “UVa was great, yada yada…” we are all going to skip to the part after the “but.” I think I’m idiosyncratic because I’m happy Casey is going to NC St because I get to watch him more. McKoy annoys me because I suspect I may not get to watch him at all.

gotta be EE gore. clean it up Maine

Imma watch way more of Casey than Justin as well proly for no other reason than that he is a guard. Long story short

Yeah but no one spent a whole thread or tweeted about any of those players.

If a former coworker posted something along the lines of “I am so excited to be joining a firm that better suits my skill set” and the first response from multiple coworkers was talking shit, I think it would look insecure at best. Neither player said that our offensive scheme sucked. Both were later on very complimentary of what they learned at UVA. Yet this fan base wants to urinate all over them as they go.

No one has to cheer for them. But this forum reads like Tech Side Line after they have a player transfer

It’s funny because I am pretty sure when Morsell transferred a lot of the talk was hoping he could find a destination where he didn’t have to think so much on O and could get out in transition

Obviously it will be stronger with a former player but I think there would be a reaction to any ACC player commenting on our style of play or system. I wasn’t on this board then (did it exist yet?) but I remember long threads on other boards and on twitter about RJ Barrett when he said something while he was at Duke. Just think nothing in this thread crossed into critiquing Casey as a person and his basketball skills are completely fair game. Just like any other ACC player.

To take your analogy of a former coworker leaving I think it would be the same thing. Did they leave to go to a direct competitor? Or did they leave to go to a different part of the industry? If it was a direct competitor I wouldn’t expect everyone to have the warm and fuzzies. If it was somewhere only tangentially related I’d expect everyone to wish them well and stay friendly.

I think I’m just really confused as to what negative or intrude thing they said in this article? Again it just reeks of something you’d read on TSL

From two years ago but still sort of relevant to what he can do.

As the gentle bashing of Morsell (and McCoy) continues, I think it’s fair for folks to ask if him if he’d seen UVA play before committing. From a “fit” standpoint. I also think it’s fair to ask why CTB thought Casey was a fit - Tony went after him HARD.

Very true fresh
He had ample time and chances to nail down significant minutes
