NC State Game Thread

Completely irrelevant question . . . What was with the matching shoes on the coaches?

That was brutal. A lot of good in the fight the boys showed but a lot of bad. Mostly the same bad it’s been all season. This is who the team is. Solid young emotional flawed hard working and frustrating

There were some good things today. Young guys Morsell and Caffaro made contributions. Just wasn’t enough. That’s where things are with this team. Late January and roles are still up for grabs for a reason.

We were playing great the 2nd half of the 2nd half. It felt like the last year. We simply just didn’t get fair and even calls

They do it every year as part of a cancer or other awareness. I have several pairs that ive collected over the years to match what they’ve worn

After this game and considering inevitable loses, will we make the NCAA tournament?

Unless we win out, not a chance

Can’t fault the refereeing. Some fortunate calls put is in the position to win a natty. Some days the calls go your way, other days they don’t. State had more big shot players today. Can’t put ourselves in 2nd half 10pt+ deficits and expect to win acc games. Not a terrible performance, on to the next.

No i do not think this is a tournament team unless they go 2/3 agaisnt duke and fsu and make an acc tourney run

I whole-heartedly disagree. Yes, we could have played better, but we had a lead late. Without the points NC State got from the missed offensive foul on Diakite, or our possible points from the missed foul against Caffaro. Let’s say he misses it, the missed arm hit against Morcell would have given us a chance. I do see your point however.

Not trying to jump on Mr. TheGuy personally. or anything. But I hate that people talk about this stuff in January. If they end up good enough, they’ll win the games necessary. Right now, no they’re not good enough. Now in today’s 68 team tourney I guess you can be not good enough and still get in. But is it really that meaningful in that scenario anyway?

I think the best course of action for us all is to move on to the next game.
Go Hoos!

I’m curious what was going on with Braxton if Tony talks about it. He had be banged up to keep him out down the stretch.

Once again they put up a good fight and came back to take the lead. And once again it showed they don’t have someone to step up and make the play when needed. Jay had a good look but like most of the year it didn’t do down. You can’t fault Casey on the last shot with no more time to get a closer look, he had to put it up.

These are the games and situations that will pay dividends next year. Certainly not writing this year off, but we all know next year is the next opportunity to have another special season.

Ok I just looked at that last play by Morsell again a few times and it looked like there was indeed no foul. Defender got all ball

Yep. Reminds me of the '12-13 team, they kept losing tight games down the stretch. The next year was another story.

Caffaro said Funderburk pulled his injured thumb once, told him not to do that again. Funderburk said "what are you going to do about it" and pulled it again, leading to the shove.

Explains everything.

I have so many emotions right now and it’s really hard to process. Anger (idk at what but definitely at something, or even someone), joy (that’s not quite the right word to describe it but I’m still so damn happy about our natty), and lastly and most of all, hope. Hopeful for what next year, the year after, and all the years following that have to bring. Those are just the major emotions…
