Final Four, give 'em hell ■ ■ ■ ■. Represent the ACC.
All four #1 seeds? March Madness, more like March Bland-ness, amiright!? Eh?
March Blah-ness?
March Drab-ness?
Open to suggestions.
March Midness.

Maybe lose in the semis on a Walter Clayton double dribble no-call late in a one possession game?
Upside of no Cinderellas this tourney. Heavyweight matchups.
Houston is 360th in tempo. Duke is 269.
Very interesting.
Duke should obviously win, given their higher tempo rating…
Hilarious…. Now count each actual possession and both teams are significantly faster… those stats don’t count offensive rebounds as another possession.
By rule when a shot is attempted team possession ceases.
I think a lot of the magic of the madness wore off once it became a G League event… with them
all getting paid now - it’s just hard to care and be empathetic when they go home….
Say what you want but this is the biggest reason it’s declined…
Gambling keeps it artificially inflated now.
P.s. yes I know ratings are still high. Least I’ve watched games ever for me .
Non stop video replay to add .3 seconds to clock in 7 point game aint helpin. And literally check every out of bounds called that is even remotely contested.
That’s your hill to die on, I guess. A lonely hill. And you’ll die on it. Let us know if you need any supplies.
This here on LRA is a bad sample group because UVA is postseason-irrelevant for the first time since 2011, our collective emotions toward the tournament is depressed because we’ve been more detached and checked out than normal all season. Maybe even doubly so with the steady year over year decline since the natty. Tony losing his grip on his ability to field relevant teams on our behalf inevitably color our overall displeasure with the game as a whole.
This isn’t to say that it’s wrong or inaccurate to have feelings about roster instability; it IS harder to get invested in teams that turn over so much every year in a way that would make any NBA/NFL/MLB/NHL GM or Coach lose his mind. That part we just have to hope gets settled in the coming years, I’ve got hope that two year contracts start to become a thing, maybe even the standard for younger guys.
Most of those going deep in the tourney had always been getting paid tho.
It has been the opposite for me. I’ve watched more of the tournament than I have in years. Normally I care all year and then check out when uva is done. This year I checked out so early in the season that I was able to be an interested neutral observer. Also, since I usually don’t have the time budget to watch a lot of ball outside of uva, it’s been a long time since I’ve watched good basketball.
It amazes me that schools are still trying to play Duke man-to-man defensively. It’s like throwing frozen corn at The Rock if he was trying to kill you (I made that up but I like it).
They are head and shoulders the most talented team in the country. I know this will earn me emojis, but there is precedence for playing a zone against the vastly superior team. Clemson did it this year to Duke, and more famously, look at the Villanova/Georgetown game in 1984. Nova played a matchup-zone most of the game. And there are countless other examples.
I don’t care who you are, you have to zone them and keep the ball out of Flaggs hands as much as you can. They can shoot the lights out, but I would rather gamble on a bad night shooting than gamble on some NBA guys staying in front of all future NBA players.
Does Houston ever run zone tho? Feels like Sampson might essentially be Bennett on that point.
For better or worse, I think Houston is gonna do what they do always… of the teams left, feels like Golden is most likely to spin up a zone.
Yup. Been watching FL all year. He will work up a zone to throw a team off. Did it all season. What’s funny is that they may the best team in the country to matchup with Duke, but he will still do it. Because he’s smart.
Agree that Houston will be stubborn and lose being stubborn. Feels familiar….
I’m not too worried about Houston’s defense. They’ll be disruptive enough. It’s whether they can score.
