Some prefer EHS or StC. To each his own.

If people are going to stan Oasis we should just have the site shut down.

Collegiate was the only threat in tennis and we still whooped 'em when I was a Tiger.

Ha. I saw that too. I can ask some people for sure

Does Dunn start? Seems like this is the game to do it to match up defensively.

Caffaro will start but he might get yanked quickly. Furman will play small and stretch us out and we’ll probably have to match that since our bigs aren’t good enough to punish them offensively. Dunn, Jayden and Reece will probably be our most critical players.

JJ told me last year we shouldn’t have any problem with North Texas and that our bigs would be too much for them. We pulled it out in OT and our bigs combined for 4 points and 4 rebs. It wasn’t that he didn’t know North Texas, he just didn’t know UVA’s play. Didn’t really know the names of most of our players. I guess why would he if he coaches his own team all season?

time stamped for 1:43 mark for the press conference from Paladin. Head coach pulled Tony’s adversity can be a ticket anecdote right off the nogin; he knows.

edit: they just posted the presser only link so I replaced the old link with that instead

Nice. Shame we have to beat his team’s ass.

Matt Norlander says that the Furman UVA game is a sneaky upset alert. I hope we stomp them by 20 …

I hope Tony and co are using some of this as bulletin board material- based on what I’m seeing, I don’t think it is sneaky any longer. Going to be the massive trendy pick:

Who’s bright idea was it to play a regional in Orlando right at Disney spring break rush time? As a frequent Disney goer, good luck with finding a last min flight into MCO

The media is so dumb. There’s nothing sneaky about calling a UVA matchup an upset pick, and we only have ourselves to thank for that.
We just need to go handle our business.

Our style of play lets us hang with anyone, but does allow for underdogs to hang around with us if they are hot from 3. We do win most of the close games though.

In their Penn St and NC State losses, the common factor was that they couldn’t get to the line much. That lines up well with what is a strength for our team.

Also, that Penn St loss had a close-ish final score, but Furman did face an average deficit of 10 pts during the game. They made a run late in the second half to get it to a one possession game with a little over a minute left.

I get the upset talk because Furman is going to be a higher variance team with all the threes they shoot, and that teams tend to shoot more threes against us, but that’s kinda looking past the fact that 7-seed Missouri is going to be a multiple-point dog to Utah St, and that 5-seed Miami and 7-seed Northwestern are in coinflip-ish first round matchups.

Furman shoots a ton of threes. I’m hoping we have Dunn play on Slawson a bunch; Reece will have to play up on Bothwell, we have to try to force them off the three point line as best we can.

The Athletic put the upset chance at 39.4%.

Anyone know what is so special about their model that has it at ~10% higher than all other predictive analytics?

IF Team = “Virginia”
THEN UpsetChance = UpsetChance + .10
END

Science, baby! I love it. If you have a decimal point on your percentage, you can’t refute it. Them the rules.
