Ty’s hype started from CP3 camp which hasn’t happened yet this year. So Ty was similarly quiet at this point in his cycle.
Would prefer to discuss more in another thread but I think Reece is in a weird spot where he could either be a lottery pick or a late second rounder. Basically, he is “all American” in 2 of the 3 most important parts of being a pg. and I have a hard time imagining an outcome where if he just makes marginal offensive improvement he gets drafted. I think he could be an all American college player as a 4th year with marginal offense but it isn’t enough to be an NBA 1-guard.
Kind of like how Kyle guy could do nothing outside of grow 2-3 inches to improve his pro stock, Reece can really only bump that 3 point shooting to acceptable levels.
I understand CTB will be there. He explained to those signed up for his youth basketball camp that he would not be able to attend Wednesday and Thursday youth camps because he needed to be at the Top 100 camp. Unfortunate scheduling conflict that he regretted
This. That’s when I started to worry about it. Then on senior day after warm ups he went to half court and kissed the V sabres and I knew…he gone.
Keep in mind that in this year’s draft, the shortest player picked in the lottery was 6’4” Jaden Ivey. The only shorter 1st rounders were 6’3” Blake Wesley at 25 and 6’2” TyTy Washington at 29. In 2021 it was 6’0” Davion Mitchell at 9 and a handful of 6’3” and 6’4” guys in the bottom half of the 1st.
I think the NBA is moving toward the FSU model with ideally 5 guys between 6’5” and 6’10” who can all guard the perimeter and switch everything. That’s working against Reece!!, no matter how good he is.
Khani Rooths listed as having a UVA offer. @HoozGotNext you think that true or just confusing interest with offer. He was solid today, so maybe staff threw him an offer today? My gut says misunderstanding.
That’s fair but also keep in mind this was viewed as an incredibly weak PG draft. In a draft without viable PGs you wouldn’t expect guys under 6’5 to be drafted in the first round.
Davion Mitchell highlights the point that if you are an elite defender the size considerations aren’t as big of a deal for you. And that also makes sense because most size concerns are really concerns about who players will be able to defend.
But Davion Mitchell also was able to shoot about 40% at Baylor as well, and really could score. But I agree with your point *defensively it’s best to be able to have guys you don’t have to worry about defensively, unless you’re a Trey Young like prodigy.
He’s announced them all on IG. No UVA
Damn im falling behind on my social media stalking game
edit: double falling behind. That Myles Colvin kid is already committed to Purdue. Maybe Kyle Guy can flip him in our favor
Mitchell was a career 37.6% 3 point shooter and shot 29%, 32% and then 45% his junior year.
Then proceeded to shoot 31.6% from 3 this year in the NBA.
Was his last year in college an anomaly?
Good question…I just remember watching him in his junior year and he was a stud all season, offensively and defensively. I’ll forgive his first year and a half in the NBA as *everybody is adjusting so we will have to see!
Mitchell followed the JA school of striking while the draft-iron was hot (which I think in their cases was probably wise).
Saw Ball’s name tossed around a little. Final five of DePaul, Miami, Providence, UCONN, USC.

Big time Texas scout who I’m pretty sure is familiar with UVA staff (he tweeted something like “Willy knows talent” when UVA offered Kaiser a few months back)

Kyle Getter trying to flip Reed Sheppard (was probably watching Jaydon Young). Anthony Solomon also there
