Not leaving the Midwest apparently and unfortunately both @BDragon and Trilly have shared that sentiment.
Calhounās staff is interesting. Young dudes, one with some experience in Orlando Magic front office. One dude an assistant coach at Weber State during their last few successful years, and a dude who was a grad assistant for Mark Gottfried during NC Stateās 2015 sweet 16 run (and then a Rutgers assistant). And two of them with experience recruiting North Carolina.
But no DMV experience. Seems like a big void that either someone on staff or someone like a cory Alexander or Anthony Solomon could fill in
Edit: Google tells me Anthony Solomon is currently in the Phoenix Suns office as a college scout.

This is going far down the fantasy relocation consultant rabbit hole, but maybe the 2 guys who followed him from YSU would continue, the guy whoās been in Utah for the last 10 years stays somewhere in Utah, and then the associate HC might be a toss-up; heās been an associate HC for like 7 years across three different programs, perhaps heās ready for his own gig. Does the chief of staff count as an assistant? I guess heās listed in the coaches section.
All of that is just to say that I hope whoever the next HC is sets aside an assistant spot for a āsolidifying a tie to UVAā hire.

The worst few weeks will be the waiting on other coaches to finish the postseason to find out who weāre getting. At least weāll have the madness to distract.

When do you think actual rumors will start to come out of guys weāre seriously targeting? Even if theyāre still in the madness, and we have to wait on that to end, I bet some stuff would start to leak. We havenāt done this in so long I donāt even know what to expect

I honestly donāt know. There will still be some people around I think I can rely on some. But itāll be a restartā¦a race for everybody who covers UVA Basketball finding connections.
Depends who the coach is, their approach to handling this kind of stuff. We might get someone who likes to cooperateā¦in which case youāll see Rivals and 247 dive more into basketball recruiting than they currently do. Iām not too worriedā¦itās always a scrounge for me and Iāve never been dependent on direct staff sources. Thatās why we still get stuff here and others donāt.

I donāt expect to know much about the coaching search. Maybe connected boosters out there could toss us a boneā¦thatās usually about the only avenue for that sorta thing.

ha itāll be months of hand wringing among fans starting in March. First itāll be who is the coach, then why hasnt he retained this coach or that coach, then why havent we hired assistant x or y, then why have we not met with this player or that player, what about chance mallory, then the portal stress kicks in, then weāll ask why we havenāt contacted any 2026 or 2027 recruits. Not to mention once practice starts things will kick in to super high gear on lineups and such. Itāll be at least an 8 month stress fest on here

Hearing at least one ātier 1ā candidate is VERY interested, so if we end up with a mid-major guy then Carla and company f**ked something up.
