Probably a lot. Been having that same thought.
Calhoun or bust? Canât stop myself thinking âWhat if Tony retired after last season?â. I think the vibes were negative enough we wouldnât have gone with the internal hire route

Iâd imagine Vandy is gonna do everything they can to keep him. And we have no idea what his buyout looks like, could be really high.
Itâs why Byington is a tricky candidate, he could be a major possibility for us or he could not even be on the board.
They also just opened their new facilities yesterday.
I think back to over the summer Trillyâs comment on Vanderbilt having âmore money than Godâ and going all in on sports
I think the only chance at Byington is that he really wants to be in Cville/VA long term. Iâm sure Vandy can match any funding that we have planned and the SEC is a vastly better conference
I donât think the SEC is an asset for Vandy vs ACC is for us. Itâs too competitive right now whereas you come to ACC and you just have to contend with UNC and Duke while still being very well resourced
The money thing is gonna be the bigger issue. Should have had Byington last year
Byington was hired on March 25. We lost on March 19. There is zero chance we hire him last year
Wait what, if Bennett retired after the CSU loss like some people speculated he would then that timeline would have worked out for us lol.
Yeah hires happen quick, and Byington would have gotten word Tony was hanging it up/held off on the Vandy job maybe
There is zero chance that TB decides to retire 6 days after the loss. It wouldâve been into April and the choices wouldâve been much kess
Zero chance? You got sources on that?
I think we benefit from not having to compete the MEGA-carousel last year. And as you said, there would have been a lot of pressure to promote within.
Weâve now seen what that looks like without having to invest long-term.
This yearâs a wash, but long-term I think we benefit from the timing. But of course, all depends on who we get.
This argument is dumb.
Letâs focus on what we can do to get Byington in Charlottesville. I will personally donate upwards of $20 towards his buyout. Paul Tudor Jones will you match it??
I think it starts with pulling for ND tonightâŚ
You really think that he would have retired less than 6 days after his loss when he wasnât 100% sure that he wanted to do it anyway? No, that wouldnât have happened. I mean it didnât happen. What are we eve taking about
I think thereâs basically 0 significance to anything that happens on the court for us right now. Ron isnât being retained, not sure performance this season affects our candidate pool at all.
PTJ matching a mill for every dollar you donate

Vandy up 5 on Kentucky with 24 seconds left.
That kid was nasty. Tore up the 3 rivers district but that Floyd team around him was never that good.
**might have gotten better after I graduated. I was a couple years older than him.
Watched him and Andrew Rowsey tear up the Northside gym at an AAU tournament my buddies were playing in back in the day.
Watching with my Kentucky fan gf, and as much as I love Byington I think I want Kentucky to win. Easier to hire Byington if heâs not in the tourney.
