How do you get Carlisle’s age wrong?

Transpose his birth year with his age.

Carlisle is at the top of my list.

The first half of this Pitt Game is why I would never hire Jeff Capel…as he is losing to a team like us .

But seriously I didn’t see any kind of adjustment to us in the first half (not to say they won’t win), but I don’t want someone that cannot inject urgency into his team in such a paramount game. In other words, when Capel is good then he can be very good. When he’s bad it’s just a lower ceiling from Tony, ie: what we’ve grown accustomed to.

Atleast as an experienced coach, which both Capel and TB are, TBā€s floor, still got us to the NCAA tournament.

Jeff Capel. Jason is his brother and an assistant coach. I did the same thing writing the preview

I’m surprised Sampson would go on record as to whom should replace Sanchez honestly.

But yeah, Carlisle and Odom. Makes sense.

I’m not opposed to Carlisle if he has some good recruiters on staff. Just don’t see how the timing would work at all though.

Carlisle is probably my top guy but agreed I don’t think the timing works unless he quits before the end of the season. Given the Pacers are somewhat in contention (even if they’re not gonna win a championship) it’s hard to see that happening.

I’ve seen Pitt fans and some wannabe ā€œinsiderā€ mention Calhoun for Pitt…

Calhoun feels like he’s a year or two away from a P5 job, but there may be enough interest that he just skips the line now. I think he ends up with a P5 job this cycle.

Wouldn’t mind it being with us!

I was thinking about this more, I think I realized why I hate zone as a primary defense. I think a zone defense gives the opponent’s offense too much control of what happens in the game. This can be good, because a team without the requisite personnel and tactical nous can falter against the zone without the defense having to do anything special, but it can be bad, as a team with the answers to the test just solves it, and the zone isn’t as capable of being responsive (see 2019 UVA-Cuse 2nd half). Whereas man-to-man keeps it more like a 50-50 with the offense for control.

Please don’t ever use this phrase on this board again! Will always be too soon.

Serious question.

If Ron gets this team to play like last night the rest of the way, we finish something like 16-15(17-14) and then win a couple of games in the ACC tournament.

IF he is able to retain most of the roster, (no clue if they would know that soon after the season ends). Would most be in favor of one more year to see what he can does with a full offseason and most of the team returning after a favorable finish? He probably would get a 3 year contract though or something.

I DO no think this scenario will happen, but after last night, I do consider it a possibility.
