No. I will be a broken record on this. Ron has some coaching ability but nothing in his record shows that he can build and sustain a winning program.

Twice last night he leaked out before we secured the defensive rebound. In the previous 15 years, you could probably count on one hand the number of times that happened — and all who did that were probably benched.

Yeah, loved seeing that sort of thing and I also think playing 2-bigs who are switchable really helped on defense. At least last night.
As for Ron, he has a lot of work to do to get back into the convo, but last night was a step… of many. I think that player injuries/absences can be clarifying for rotations.
And hope last night helps Dai Dai find a groove. When things are working, he looks like he can do that for a good team.

Trilly joked Barnes is gonna pull a Tony and retire last second to get his assistant Gainey the job (Barnes also wanted Kim English as coach in waiting but that probably isn’t happening now)

Keatts was an automatic extension triggered by making the Final Four. Which maybe calls into question the wisdom of such clauses being included into contracts.

If that happens, I would be OK with Ron for another year assuming Carla has not been successful drumming up interest from actual good coaches (not Capel types).
In this case though, Ron would need a VERY low buyout and a VERY short leash.
But, I’m not counting on it happening.

Yeah. I think the upside for the school is making it harder for the coach to be bought out by another school. And then the downside is what you see now. In hindsight, a clause like “Makes the Final Four AND has an over .500 ACC record” would have been much better.

There is a nightmare scenario where Capel finds his landing spot, Devries to Iowa, Cincy pays the Miller buyout, and Rhoades ends up elsewhere and you have Cincy OhioSt WVU Pitt PennSt all going after Calhoun while Indiana UNC and Tenn go after Byington.
