Only 1 in 1 million americans can pronounce Bala Cynwd though and they all work for Susquehanna
Yeah Nova is in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. It’s kinda weird. A coach & his family might find that very attractive though.
Nova campus is pretty meh/boring. But the surrounding area might be desirable for some coaches. Nice area, and also close to a city. You also have the arena two-step but some coaches might like playing in the big downtown arena.
The surrounding area is very nice (especially if you get a couple blocks north or south of Lancaster Ave itself, or maybe a little east towards Haverford/Ardmore/Narberth), especially if you’re getting $3-4 mil a year to live there. And as others noted, very easy to get into Philly itself from there.
Having lived in both places, Charlottesville is more to my preference, but reasonable minds can disagree.
Also a train stop on their ugly campus has some value
Porter Moser and Oklahoma doubled up in the first half so far. 38-19 at home.
Can we take him off the list yet
I think its safe to say he coached his way off any list as of now
He’s at the top of the Wichita St list for sure
Is it time for a new big board?
UVA Big board:
- Buyoutington
- Odom
Tier 1:
Shaka Smart
Rick Carlisle
Billy Donovan
Mark Byington
Tier 2:
Richard Pitino
Darian DeVries
Fred Hoiberg
Tier 3:
Ryan Odom
Mitch Henderson
Tier 4:
Dennis Gates
Worth staying up late to keep tabs on in case IU/UNC steal top guys and Odom flames out:
Jerrod Calhoun
Russell Turner
Eric Olen
Chris Gerlufsen
If he wins out he’ll be hard to ignore even with a thin resume:
Tony Skinn
Eliminated from contention:
Jeff Capel
Wes Miller
Porter Moser
Ron Sanchez
I think I’m officially in on Lil Pitino. He’s got a great resume and is still very young. It’s pretty obvious he’s a very good basketball coach.
Should be yea.
“Intense” and “athletic” are two of the top five or six words with which I want our new-look program to be described
Young Pitino is interesting.
Is he only doing well because he struck gold with Donovan Dent?
At the same time, did he only do mediocre at Minnesota because it’s a hard place to win in the current climate?
Question for you guys…
Some of us say we “know” Odom wants this job. How do we know that? Is there something out there that I have missed?
I know the missed threes are ugly, but I would/will be sooooo happy to trade the SLOWEST PACE IN THE NATION and the Bennett-Ball pursuit of precision for generalized chaos and relentlessness.
A lot of us speak to the beauty of Virginia basketball 2009-2019 (2009-2024?) I’m the opposite. The slow pace has been torture for me. I loved the winning, please don’t get me wrong, but there was so very little to capture my imagination or get this fan fired up on a fundamental level. Dentists chair, indeed.
Anyway, I really really like what I’m seeing from Odom’s VCU.
My guess is Ryan would be very excited about any ACC job so for sure he would love to coach at Virginia. My guess
Point in his favor, IMO, from an eval standpoint. Retained him after an excellent sophomore season.
Richard Pitino at UVA would be bad ass.
That is true. He was being mad tampered with and would have been the best pg in the portal had he entered
