Duke, UNC, Cuse and Nova hired guys with resumes worse than Ron’s. Who knows how each of those will work out but it’s just reality that “inertia” is as relevant of a factor as resume. Ron’s familiarity with the school (and success he participated in) is worth something. It’s not just a blind resume comparison. There’s always risk of the unknown with any outsider.
I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you. I think Cuse hiring Autry and Nova hiring Neptune were insanely stupid decisions. Even UNC hiring Hubert didn’t make sense to me. I get Scheyer but part of that is because I genuinely think K wanted Duke to fail when he left so it would be about him. We could certainly attract candidates with resumes that seem stronger than Ron’s on paper.
I’m just saying that it’s not just about the resume (or if it is there is definitely a value to Ron having been here and seen what’s necessary to win).

My Dad lives in WS and last night I took him to the WF game. It was empty especially if you don’t count the students. Even walking out with an 89 year old in slow motion we were out of the parking lot in a few minutes.

Thats the thing. I dont know who is even more interesting to go after. Or even who is actually a better coach in our own league, really. Couple teams get better players and always have and always will…
I just prefer in this situationto get it done soon and soon seems to be Ron or Jason then we can recruit and do all the other things

I think a lot of the anti-Ron sentiment, bad way to put it but you know what I mean…is just wanting to turn the page to something new. Right or wrong. I sympathize.
It’s not gonna have any impact on recruiting at this point though. The season is basically a non-event in recruiting. They’ll have a coach in place, Sanchez or other, when it matters for that.

Also @MaineWahoo my view could be right or not but after the initial thing and watching us play in a real game my stance is it is better to go through this season with an actual Coach and build
To be certain post Tides Inn I even said here there is zero chance Ron is our head coach next year. My mind is changing after in my space seeing him in his space and I hope you all like your space too

I guess if you dont care about the next cycle maybe. I mean recruits are at games etc all season no? Why would Jay Willy and Zay etc kill themselves on the road watching kids when they dont even know if they will be Virginia mext season

They’ll keep recruiting for 2026 as if they’re staying. I get what you’re saying. But there just really isn’t much activity between Nov-March. Coaches rarely go out. A few recruits come to games, but even them it’s probably 80-20 kids they never actually end up recruiting.
Of the full cycle, Nov-March is probably like 5% or less of it.

Is there a path that leads to Williford? It sucks that he has no shot, but seems like once he was slotted behind Ron, the dream was over.
