Iâve read that the schools planning to fully fund revenue sharing are allocating approximately 15 mil to football and the remaining 5.5 mil to everything else, mostly menâs basketball.
Other things I read are that the median P5 payroll last season was about 750k and it was expected to go up to 1.5mil this season. Kansas spent 4 mil last season which was the most. Arkansas promised Calipari a 5mil budget.
The Athletic reported player rates last transfer season.
âStarter should be $200,000-$250,000, all-conference $350,000, All-American $500,000-plus â but there are people paying double that across the board,â says one source.
âStarter: $200,000-$300,000. All-conference: $500,000-$750,000. High-end: $800,000-$2 million,â says another.
âStarter: $500,000. All-conference: $800,000-$1 million. Top guys: Well over $1 million. Some teams are getting wild as well with money in the portal,â says a third.
âDepends on position. An all-conference guard could be looking at $450,000-$600,000 and, as theyâve gotten more scarce, $600,000-$800,000. For bigs, what was $600,000-plus for an all-conference player is now over $1 million,â says a fourth.
âStarter: $200,000-$400,000. All-league potential: $600,000-$800,000. Top guys â over a milly!!!â says source No. 5
7 mil total for basketball probably puts us near the top. If you look at our 2019 roster, thatâs probably 3 all conference or higher level guys, 3 starter level guys, 3 lower minutes bench guys and 3 lightly recruited freshmen. So being generous, thatâs 3 mil for the big 3, 1.5 mil for Diakite, Salt and Key, and the base salary for Huff, Anthony, Clark, Stattmann, Badocchi and Caffaro. So like 5 mil on the high end?
