Fact. That call results in me shouting and telling someone to get over it and play on.
Are you that guy who tries to take a charge in pickup?
Thereās kind of two lines youāre talking about, which I think you acknowledge clearly. One can have a debate about what tech/standards should be used to make the decision, but whichever ones have been decided on in the off-season are the ones you have to use. For that season and game, the rules were that it would be reviewed using those cameras. Since those were the standards being applied that season, that is the right call. Whether that should be the tech/standards used, is kind of a separate debate, and why rules and such get changed in the off-season.
All that to say, I donāt see how anyone can say it was the wrong call. They can disagree with the process and want to change it, but I donāt see how it could ever be described as incorrect.
Also, Iāll just note, this same level of scrutiny is applied to out of bounds replays in the NBA all the time. And in the NFL theyāre making out of bounds line calls and TD calls using it and in many cases reversing what the call would have been on the field for 50 years were it just poorly positioned refs calling it. Folks can definitely debate whether itās good or bad, but just noting that what college basketball does is in no way unique or out of touch with modern sporting approaches to the issue. So I also donāt think that call could be said to be out of the norm at the time.
Thatās my long winded way of saying if you want to trash the title, go to an Auburn board! (Also, to be clear, is a good convo and all in fun - donāt go to an Auburn board, itās a terrible place)
Remind me again, who touched it last? Right call, donāt care much personally how we got there. Ty double dribbled. Refs missed the intentional foul before the double dribble. Right outcome, wrong calls. Again donāt much care how we got there.
Just once!!! I swear!!
Edit: sorry, it was just the pick, never a charge.
All I can say is that on the jpj jumbotron it was the right call
Auburn player also clearly traveled a possession or two before the whole double dribble thing but they never talk about that for some reason.
Yep I almost busted a blood vessel yelling for that all.
Here is rare footage of Captain hooping
This is always the case with end of game calls. No one ever wants to roll back the tape and tally up the blown calls during the first 39 minutes of the game.
That doesnāt mean Iām not still ticked about the ludicrous flop that fouled Reece!!! Out of the St Bonny game or the phantom block called on Armaan when he pulled the chair out from under their guard.
But, when push comes to shove, their were plenty of opportunities for us to have made plays to win that game and not leave it in the refsā handsājust as Auburn and Texas Tech had opportunities to make plays and beat us.
Man if Jefferies did that today heād be banned from NCAA basketball. I missed when hooping was real. (insert old man yelling at cloud pic).
TJ was one the most fundamental bigs in the country and he had tricks. This screen is a thing of beauty surely learned at Dematha
Look at your boy up top wide open callin for the ball
Ha!!! I probably would have thrown an elbow had It been a Dookie!
I hate coach k
And that screen is perfect - he moves a little when the contact happens because that is how contact works
Grant Hill was the only Dookie that set foot on UVa campus in the spring and would hoop with us. Great dude back then
Atleast YB made it but dang 3 is more than 2
Edit: also note TJ calmly entering the picture post screen
Gotta love that Duke defense with four guys in the paint guarding two.
Gotta admit, I always liked Grant Hill.
Same always liked him, and not surprised heād be the only guy to show up and hoop.
