Good point. Though I thought of it as simply what one becomes when one is no longer, even temporarily, a walking bucket. As in:

ā€œMan, Terquavian Smith is usually a walking bucket, but tonight he’s Caleb Love.ā€

You’re speaking reality - media perception is that Caleb Love is an uber-talented guard who can score from anywhere, any time. I see a guy can shoot UNC out of any game, any time. He had a good tournament last year. That’s it.

Love has played in 78 games…
He has shot over 50% in a game 7 times… chucker

Why can’t we get any 25-150 type dudes who are 6-7 - 6-10 and bouncy and athletic that aren’t late risers or under the radar guys?
Or rarely anyway?
I think the ones we’ve gotten are Justin Anderson - who really is only 6-5 - 6-6.
Just curious why we struggle to get these types?

Under the radar guys: Dunn and Hunter (injuries)

I mean Hunter and Dunn both fit the profile hahahaha

Exactly- I don’t get it…instead we get a Typhoid McKoy, and an Igor M. (may be skilled *over time but needs to work on athleticism over time.)

I mention this alot, but there is NO reason that UVa cannot get a 6’8 athletic defender every 2 years to fill in a roster. Someone that is willing to do the dirty work, and *may develop some offense. If we had him last year then our defense would have been tremendously better. If we had him a year before then we could have subbed him in for either Trey or Sam. If we had him the year before that then we may not have gotten an *unathletic Mckoy who couldn’t get on the floor, but someone that could have made a difference.

To summarize- we should be able to grab someone that exists from *somewhere throughout the entire basketball playing world to attend a perennial top 25 team and the class of the ACC.

They really don’t … both were way under the radar guys due to injuries in high school … I’m talking about guys that a ton of top 25 teams want.
Hunter was #91 nationally and was drafted 4th. But closest to the profile.
And Dunn was 6-6 and grew late … And UVA was the only Top 25 program to offer. - I guess you could say Marquette and Maryland - though Maryland was not at the time a top program.

Points like this are why Im all about Shaedon Simpson. Especially in the age of NIL.

Kid under the radar due to his injuries and doing better now at a point where most programs are full for their 2023 class and schools are also prioritizing the portal.

My buddy sent me a video of that and I’ve never wished harder that I had more in my pick-up hoops tank…

Why do the women play 18 ACC games and the men 20?

Because everybody wants them and duke usually has like five of the best 20 on their team.

Everybody struggles to get those guys because they don’t grow on trees. You can’t really have too many deandre hunters either. Hunter wa the first player of that profile that Tony ever got and it was an upset.

BYU director of video and strategy with a good thread on a bunch of analytics and what not. Figure this would make some happy.
