OFFER WATCH: Post Live Period/Pre Fall Recruiting Thread

From the scholastic period, but interesting to see Gertrude hold his own vs. potential #1 in the class Justin Edwards, in the red sleeves.

Tahaad 0 is somethin else huh? The next HC player to watch for is number 5. Omari M(something) will only be a sophomore this year. Plays with a lotta confidence and still raw but really good

He’s very good. Him and Reed Sheppard will get a great view of Dillingham and DJ Wagner playing. Totally jealous.

Wait … is Tahaad 2024?

Don’t know. I’m just speculating. I can’t imagine Tony is going to wait long to offer. Maybe they need to do some investigating first. Who knows.

Not to drag things too much from the other thread but he directly mentions winning a title three years ago so kids do care about that.

I don’t really mind recruiting Jarin like we are at this point. Not a ton of opportunity cost. But it’s so clear he’s going to UNC he’s directly mentioning Jordan and Vince Carter lol

the 2024s that would get me excited to recruit are the guys that aren’t on everyone’s list yet. The guys that Tony has spotted before they blew up and are now underrecruited. Those are the guys we have a chance of getting an early commitment from before the big recruiting machines move in and shove us out of the way.

If I see "Tony is all in after ________ and the reaction is ā€œwho is he?ā€ and ā€œhe only has mid-major offers so farā€ then that’s the guy that I know is a find and we have a shot of landing early.

The 2024s that UNCheat and Kansas and Duke and Kentucky are recruiting? I’m fine with Tony trying. Nothing beats a ā€œcan’tā€ except a ā€œtry.ā€ But I’m not getting invested because our probability of success is very tiny.

I actually do mind, why are we wasting the time. Like we wasted this year on GG Jackson. I understand that it hurts nothing to recruit him hard now but by next spring we need to be hard on realistic targets

I actually think the mentions are what UNC sells when they take recruits to their little museum.

The fact that he has come up to C-ville multiple times already I think speaks volumes to us actually have a real chance. Now we may end up 2nd (and I think we probably will) but this feels like one where you have to make a go of it and one that you have to know when to lay down the ultimatum…

I get the sense he’s a little over-rated too (very good, we would want him in a heartbeat, but not as dominant as his rating suggests)

Trey Youngish/ Bobby Jackson (Sacramento Kings)

I mean yeah that’s the plan. lol. We are going to offer a dew 2024s soon as well.

If we don’t get Stevenson, but a little continued interest makes UNC have to spend time and energy to keep him home (bye-bye GG), doesn’t that benefit us a bit in pursuing other guys?

There’s like 50 2024 wing/hybrid forwards on their radar just in the DMV and North Carolina alone. We have other options (at the moment at least).

6’5ā€ Sammy Hauser

He’s more physical than Hauser. Bullies people at times. #3 in the white and red in some of those clips is Jarin Stevenson

Normally when I see a recruit comparison to Hauser I think it’s a bit of a stretch, but Knueppel has the exact same jump shot form as Sam does.

Yeah I say it mostly bc the jumper is an exact copy. He’s def more of a guard-forward than Sam was

Even though he probably picks UNC he definitely is very interested in UVA. He has already visited 3 times so he definitely likes it here.

Will we make another offer today?

  • Yes, for 2023
  • Yes, for 2024
  • Yes, for both 2023 and 2024
