for AAU events, is there any quality video taken for use by college coaches for scouting? Not just highlights but full games. Seems like that would be in the best interests of the kids playing. And if “yes” how is it distributed? Colleges can purchase it perhaps?

Synergy. Every major shoe circuit game is streamed by Synergy. Every major coaching staff in the country has a subscription, every replay available. And even the non-shoe events all are streamed. They can get the video anytime.

Is there any chance that when we hear that Tony is working his “contacts” that it isn’t a foreign player?

I’m sure TB has his contacts but that’s mostly the assistants who do that. What I referenced in the VIP article, is more about seeing not only who’s out there but who they might have a chance with. All North American players as far as I know haha

What is it that a coach can see in person that he can’t see from full game film in basketball?

I’m kind of with you on this one if there’s quality video. But I know TB has talked about this specifically…he wants to see them in-person to get the full idea of them physically, size how they move etc. And I gotta say I watch these Synergy games all summer and it is pretty hard. It’s easy to see Gertrude is a great athlete but how about Brandon Rechsteiner? I’d want to see him up close live before making judgements.

I’m always unclear if Mexico counts. What if its a border area?

If they play US teams in high school or AAU they count

Mexico is North America so it would count but I’m less enamored with that idea. They don’t have a rep for good basketball like Canada does.

Duke already recruiting 5 star SF for 2024. How can Power not see he will be recruited over every year including the twp 5 star 3/4 combos already in the 23 class?

It’s not that he (they) don’t see, it is that they don’t care. The Duke package overcomes all this and most top players are confident in their ability, don’t worry about the comp. We had this long discussion the other day. Power has to weigh earning PT vs UVAs 4 stars that are likely 4 year guys or vs a likely new 5 star every year at his position
