“A” drink?
I tried this new place yesterday (if coming into town from the east, along the 250 bypass a little bit after the bridge from Pantops):
Had the sandwich in the picture, it was delicious. They also have several types of pan dulce and pretty good looking tres leches cake that I will try next time.
See you in Cville Feb 23-24 for UNC game hometeam
Let’s go. Where we eating?
Shit we just follow the Dragon
Fair enough I’ll set us up. But I can promise you it won’t be some roast beef from Aberdeen Barn
Hey that’s now a 4pm ESPN game. Where we meeting up??
Ralph should host us.
4pm us perfect timing can rec9cer from Friday and hype for tip
Lil big bro. Start a thread for Fresh Dragon in Cville. Come one come all that weekend. LRA will pick up the tabs
Free dinner?? Got damn, I’m flyin’ east
Went to Dairy Market after the game last week. Kinda unimpressed with the food we tried. What’s good there?
Also, always surprised about how many people have never heard of Riverside. My in laws asked me about it the other day - apparently was featured in Southern Living last month.
Moo Thru for me. Besides that, I think GRN BRGR has the novelty of “it’s a smash burger but vegetarian,” and South and Central is good but pricey. I am intrigued by South and Central’s new lunch menu though.
I think of Dairy Market as the “shrug, everyone’s gonna find something OK” place to go with a mixed group, but I don’t really seek it out myself.
Take It Away is a solid sandwich. I prefer lunch at Kardinal Hall over anything at Dairy Market
I think my Preston Ave lunch rankings would be:
- Pearl Island Cafe: absolutely cheating by putting this on here, but it’s close enough to Preston
- Bodo’s: Don’t overthink things
- MarieBette
- CouCou Rachou: I’m absolutely eating pastry for lunch.
- Pineapples Thai
- Cafe 88
That was my read when we went to Dairy Market back in Dec. Hit up Moo Thru because you have to and grabbed a beer. None of the food jumped out. Charlottesville still has a way to go before it catches up to Atl Food Halls
Citizen Burger Bar just opened an outpost in Dairy Market in the last few weeks and we got burgers not that long ago. I thought it was good. Obviously Moo Through is great, and everything else I’ve had there has been… fine. I’m told at least one of the nice restaurants is very good but I don’t remember which one and I’ve never eaten there myself anyway.
Riverside Lunch is always great. Pro tip: On busy Friday and Saturday nights they’ll sometimes unplug their phone. So you call and it’ll ring and ring, eventually saying “The person is not available”. They’re there and they aren’t answering, but they’ll always do takeout if you actually go in person. And they’re fast enough that you usually don’t have to wait that long for it.
Or keep going about 5 mins and go to Cville Coffee and get a sandwich and a vietnamese coffee
But yeah, Cafe 88 best preston ave lunch
I’ve never understood the love affair with Riverside. I’m a Big Jim’s/Winkie’s/Brother’s fan.
Remedy Burger in Staunton is my go to.
It’s time for this. Been curious for a while. Tonight’s the night….
Adventive: not native and usually not yet well established, as exotic plants or animals.
Quasar: A quasar is an extremely luminous active galactic nucleus. It is sometimes known as a quasi-stellar object, abbreviated QSO. The emission from an AGN is powered by a supermassive black hole with a mass ranging from millions to tens of billions of solar masses, surrounded by a gaseous accretion disc.
Also, I may have a gaseous accretion disc hidden somewhere in my stomach.
