Quite a solid (and hefty) pulled pork sandwich plus two spuds’ worth of shoestrings. Gives me reflux just thinking about it, so why do I need one so badly right now?!
BelAir, right? Did you see Tony?
Ya… no Tony, but it looked awfully rundown outside. Still beautiful inside.
Belmont’s always been my jam.
Just texted the owner a screenshot of this comment. He always appreciates candid feedback.
I think they did a full exterior paint job within days (maybe hours) of this post. New color scheme on the gas tanks. You should run for mayor
Recent things that I’ve enjoyed (repeats of things I’ve mentioned before, because I’m a creature of habit):
- Fried calamari + steak frites at Bar Tomas; fancy chef-y food in a casual setting is so good.
- Sidling up to the Tavola back bar and getting the burrata appetizer + anything.
- The new-ish, expanded Al Carbon location in 5th St Station having a salsa bar; now I can get an absurd amount of aji sauce.
- The steak sandwich at Desayuna Con Gomez; my personal favorite of the genre around town.
Hit up Tavola last night - had the burrata, calamari and the carbonara - so good. Alicia does a fantastic job! We had a super Red - Jassarte 2017 - highly recommend
Strongly agree with first two points, and again need to add Al Carbon to list of places to try.
Lampo!
Ask him if he would rather be clutch or never have to be in a position where he needed to be clutch.
Saw him at Kardinal Hall on Tuesday.
Shook his hand as he and Laurel were walking in and said “retirement looks great on you.”
Before he could say anything, Laurel chimed in “it sure does!”
Happy to still have him in town. A truly 1 in a million human being.
Guess what drink he ordered (bourbon)
Laurel is the brains of this operation. Thank god for Laurel. I asked them if this pizza was better than the one Craig ordered on his first trip to Cville. Laurel said “definitely “.
I said “thank god god for Laurel “ and Tony quipped “I was ready to go home and say no thanks”
Everyone thank Laurel. Please
Remembering some guys, Cville restaurant edition:
The ones that bother me the most are:
- El Tepeyac
- Little Star
- Prime 109
Man I miss Spudnuts.
I don’t see the Treehouse on the list. RIP Tuttle.
One of my dad’s closest friends is Bashir (of bashir’s tavern). They even had a small band during their youths in Algeria where they would tour and perform a little. Spent a lot of my youth visiting charlottesville not knowing UVA was even a thing
Where is Qdoba? Huge omission from the list imo #Qdoba>Chipotle
