Edo Squid. Some of the best Italian food I’ve had

Ate at Kuba Kuba last time I was in Richmond and really enjoyed it for breakfas/brunch.

Looked it up and is in Freshs wheelhouse ā€œno reservations or online orderingā€ Huge Like!

Edo’s (Italian), Stella’s (Greek) & Can Can (French) are all good…recommend calling ahead for reservations on all 3. Edo’s is pretty small seating. Tulsi for Indian is really good.

The bigger question…why Richmond? NoVA/DC has as much, if not more, to offer…

Not hating on the RIC, though…spent 10 years there at school and working…

In the interests of pretending a football game wasn’t happening, had dinner at Bulpan tonight. I’d eaten at the other Korean bbq place twice and it was fine, so I didn’t get the negative reviews. I mean, it wasn’t great but it was ok.

Now that I’ve eaten at Bulpan, I get it. 100% don’t bother with the other one. Seriously, it’s 100x better and about the same price range.

Y’all are fine diners; I just go to Mission BBQ, lol!

Excellent. Making plans with a friend who wants to do KBBQ, and we were agnostic on which one to go to, so now I’m going to push for Bulpan.

Will drop a tip of my own: while we don’t lack for choice with the Mexican/Latin American food options in town, I think my current favorite is a little spot next to the gas station at Avon/Market St, Taqueria El Comalito. No frills, but it’s good stuff.

Wait, not Guadalajara #4 or whatever? I’ve been to that gas station a million times and don’t remember another Mexican place there.

Nope. Across the street from that Guadalajara. It opened maybe a year ago or so?

Got to watch the beat down in afternoon and my group is now trying to figure out dinner in cville.

A couple people want steak but we don’t want to go anywhere super fancy. Any quick recommendations for a good place to go that would have good laid back atmosphere and a decent steak and other food? Live music or general fun atmosphere would be a bonus.

It’s a non traditional steak, but Conmole has a steak dish that comes with tortillas and black beans and a tasty sauce. Good vibes place, but might not have tables.

South and Central is fine too, though that’s getting more on the pricey end. I think they sometimes have live music.

Quality Pie usually has a steak frites dish; another pretty casual atmosphere.

Super casual and not much atmosphere at all, but the carne asada at Taqueria El Comalito might be one of the better value steaks around too. It’s not the most amazing prime cut of meat haha, but cover that bad boy in salsas and it’s real good.

Thanks! Just got reservations at conmole though it was close call Between that and south and central.

All great recommendations though.

Quality pies menu has changed a lot since last time I was in there for $4 slices of pie.

I was in town last Sunday and ten of us went to The Local - pretty good, pretty casual, my braised short ribs were very good, 3 or 4 other folks got the tenderloin which they all liked.

They still do $4 pie! My wife and I meet there for ā€œdate breakfastā€ sometimes, and it’s a very different vibe than their more upscale dinner.

My favorite steak (and I’m not really a steak guy) in cville is at C&O- the steak chinoise

I don’t understand the Raising Canes love. I mean, if you don’t have taste buds go for it. But how does anyone stand their bland chicken? It’s as if seasoning of any kind is illegal there.
