🏀 Outside the ACC - 2024 Season

All fair points. I think we just forget sometimes how wacky those Jan-Feb conference games get. Usually end up with 6-8 inexplicable results per conference.

Scheyer’s end of game stuff has been bad, right?

I watched the last possession with Kon on my phone. Was that really their best play? Kon needing to make a play to get open about 30 feet from the hoop?

And then there was the champ classic stuff with Flagg getting stripped.

Is Scheyer bad at this (probably where I’d lean), or does he really not trust those other guards to create? James, Foster, the Aussie kid (what’s his name?)

My guess is Scheyer dont have much say so in these things

Is Kon’s mom calling plays from the parents’ section?

Actually it’s his brother Kräken calling shots. Dark horse.

Are you a Bad Boy? Then do I have the lawnmower for you, you Bad Boy.

Boy did I miss you, creepy sounding lawnmower invitational.

Also happy to report I’m posted up at a sports bar watching college hoops on my lunch break. Feast week!

Amani Hansberry with 17pts 6 rebounds vs Gonzaga :sob:

If Jay Wright hadn’t left, he would probably have been Villanova’s Starting center alongside Dixon at the 4. That Neptune, as soon as he got the job, told Amani no thanks cause he wanted to go away from small ball was probably the early warning sign (and they play small anyways cause their centers suck lol)

Will never get tired of this move - veteran guy does something kinda boneheaded. Like Battle there. Kinda dribble into a guy and just lose control of the battle. Ball goes flying.

So what’s the move?

That’s right. Hit the deck, put your hands up with that “what?” expression, and see if there is some way to blame it on someone or something. Whatever it takes to not have that on your ego. :joy:

Man, Auburn looks legit. If they take care of this huge lead against Memphis they’ll be 7-0 with neutral court wins over Houston, Iowa State, North Carolina, and Memphis.

I know Kansas has good wins and is also unbeaten but I’d rank Auburn No. 1 if I had a vote.

What’s depressing is that I can’t see our guys ever doing what Louisville and WVa did today. We’d just get shellacked without much of a fight.

And both with first year coaches

Everyone should see that as nothing but a positive. With the Portal and NIL you can win right away after a coaching change. It’s not the automatic 2-3 year rebuild that was pretty much the norm before the Wild Wild West days.

I think it’s becoming a little more clear that the secret to Dan Hurley having an elite defense to go along with an intricate offense was “have Donovan Clingan” (and maybe Stephon Castle to a somewhat lesser extent). In all other years, he hasn’t really escaped a typical offense-defense tradeoff, and their defense has been not-good this season.

Dan Hurley’s Ty Jerome (not defensively, but similar in that he’s a player that unlocks a billion other things for the team that are hard to estimate and appreciate until they are gone)

Pretty sure I remember two years ago they had a terrible stretch early on then won it all (Cling maybe hurt early that season?)

I think they were fairly average for a good team most of the season 2 years ago… got hot at the right time and pulled it off from a 4 seed. For reference the Hoos were also a 4 seed in that one… UConn 2023 ncaa tournament never played a top 2 seed.

Last year they no question had the best team. They just happened to capitalize on both of their opportunities in the tournament, something that’s extremely difficult to do.

I think it was last season at some point

Dont think they lost many last year. Ask Torvik
