Outside the ACC thread 11/23

They were getting hit with the 3pt variance stick, though they were hitting them with their own outlier 3pt performance as well.

FAU and San Diego State made the final 4 last year. NIL is not really the biggest factor. It’s roster continuity and success recruiting classes.

Also we do NIL a lot. Those who think we don’t do anything are mistaken. I remember @HoozGotNext talking about how one recruit’s parents tried to ask around and was surprised by how much his kid could possibly make with NIL. We aren’t dropping bag bags but we also aren’t paying pennies. If you are good you easily make 5-6 figures here at the end of the day.

These huge 6-7 figure deals are more an anomaly. And the returns havent been great vs high school talent developing at programs.

A&M plays Sunday, flies home and then flies out again Tuesday to get to JPJ. Hope they are fatigued when they play us.

They play again Sunday against loser of VT/ISU. So I’m hoping that’s the Hokies and they just throttle them instead of us

We dont want any part of Buzz. His personality will rub any and everyone the wrong way. Got to work with him a bunch back in the day. I loved him but he is a good ol boy and not sure that plays on grounds

Also a blatant bag dropper. Not even the fake NIL stuff. It’s how he got all those top 100 kids to Bleaksburg (and the vt 247 mods have also blatantly talked about under the table shennanigans with Buzz). He is one of Tony’s coaching friends though.

Probably no sense in saying ā€œwhat ifā€ since (hopefully) TB isn’t leaving, Buzz is from TX, in the SEC, and well compensated. But if he’s a very good coach, and likable, maybe UVa could be a little less stuffy in that regard

Agree with every one of those points

Buzz is a good coach. He’s also flaky. He’d be here three years before he started looking for his next gig.

Besides, I’m not sure Virginia is a better job than Texas A&M. The SEC is right now a better basketball conference; A&M has tons more money (for him and his players); and Virginia, although it has been a successful program, is not a brand name like Kentucky or Kansas or Duke. What would he gain from the move?

Also very true. Can’t imagine UVa could put together a package to lure him away. He’s a Texas guy and at a program that can pay him whatever he wants.

Charlottesville not exactly inticing for a mercenary

I note that A&M lost to FAU despite A&M outrebounding FAU by 41-23, with a whopping 15 more OR than FAU.

Memphis vs Villanova coming up and Florida vs Baylor at 5:30. Time for our OOC to get boosted hopefully.

I think Nova is better this year for sure. They are just big and physical, especially at the guard spots

As it turns out, shooting 15-30 from 3 helps to alleviate any rebounding problems a team has lol.

Villanova beating Memphis 44 - 16 at halftime.

Yeah Memphis thrived in the full court sloppy street ball vs Arkansas. Cant really handle the methodicalness of Villanova. Hopefully that bodes well for us. But irrelevant if we cant generate open looks on offense.

Is this the thesabre? Buzz is not gonna be our next coach when Coach Bennett retires in 2042. And yeah trust me you don’t want him.

I never said I wanted him.

Decent shot that Florida win ages pretty well
