Iām kind of intrigued by the Buzz world tour, if only because I am excited for how upset twerps will be when he leaves them unceremoniously.
Donāt want to recruit in the DMV against him though.

Total spitball : Simkins or Skinn + J-Willy
I think Skinn is who they should hire. I get wanting to big game hunt to show you didnāt lose the breakup, but I think Skinn would be an absolute menace on the DMV recruiting trail and clearly gets his guys to play hard and above their skill level.
Not college, but bet this is what @HoustonWilson was excited by on Twitter yesterday:

You are correct lol
Okay now what is Odom and staffās relationship like with this guy??
Buzz would be the first to admit that heās a five-year rental. He and VT used each other, to mutual advantage, before he burned the place down upon his exit. In reality, Terps could do worse for a short-term, transitional period. Doubt it will happen, however.
Honestly, I do think he left it in better shape than he found it. Credit where itās due, making a Sweet 16 run and nearly pulling off the upset to go to the Elite 8 was impressive and did raise hopes/expectations for a lot of VT fans. Coupled with their FB programās backslide into mediocrity, it was impressive how their fans got invested into hoops for a little while, even made Cassell a tougher place to play.
Itās Whitās fault that they didnāt capitalize on that, very similar to how Carla failed to capitalize on Broncoās Coastal title and Orange Bowl season, by leveraging that fan excitement into big donations and associated capital improvements. Whit instead focused their resources on trying to rebuild football, and the momentum and goodwill built by Buzz was squandered, even with Mike Young doing as well as could be reasonably expected.
I look at it this way; if I hire someone for a job at my company, and I know Iām going to get five pretty good and successful years out of them before they take a new job, especially if Iām going to have some warning about when Iām going to eventually need to replace them down the line, I call that a good hire. Itās interesting how we view college sports HC hires differently, that a five year tenure is considered failingly short.
While I agree that we didnāt capitalize, the world also shut down two and a half months later, and we couldnāt have more than 100 fans in the stands the next season.
Covid hurt the momentum as much as if not more than Carla.
I think the criticism of Carla for not capitalizing on our successes of 2019 is unfair. COVID is clearly the culprit there. God hates us and the sooner we come to terms with that, the happier we will be on this mortal coil.
The criticism of Carla in the past few years that does have real juice to me though-- Our NIL situation being very reactive instead of proactive was a very real problem, and I think that in part contributed to the Tides Inn Tragedy as well as the general decline of our revenue sports in the last couple years. It sounds like we are on the ball now (or at least in the process of getting on it), so long term results tbd, but I think it is impossible to make an argument we were ready when the time came, and it definitely cost us.
Maybe thatās a lot of structural impediments at the institutional level, and Iād certainly believe and be sympathetic to some of that, but it is kind of her job to get the institution to meet the moment for stuff like this.
Sheās done a great job getting money in the door and getting nicer facilities, and football definitely needed an upgrade, but rounding up donations for fancy lockerrooms is sort of fighting the last war in my eyes.
I get your point, and agree that the program was in better shape than he found it. I was referring to the fact that Mike Young turned up and realized that VT had exhausted all of their permitted official visits. Buzz had used them all on players he later tried to take to aTm
@HoustonWilson any word on who might replace Turner? I know this extreme deep cuts - even for a recruiting message board.

Goodman so who knows, but this didnāt even pass the smell test imo
Not Houston but my immediate thought was could see J Willy being interested.
Posting a photo of a printed out letter is elite:

I donāt know who counts as being in the category that Len is advocating for, besides Duane Simpkins. Does Skinn count?
This also definitely counts as an anti-Buzz letter.
I can not tell you how much I would like to see this happen.
I miss Len Elmore
One of the best color guys ā and the star of the greatest NIT (eligible) team in history!
Guess that means Ron Sanchez too.
Juan Dixon would be an entertaining (and recklessly negligent) hire if they want to keep it in the family.
Former NBA player with a law degree BTW
