He was in that law firm that had some crazy blow up over fraud post-financial crisis and I was like, wow, nobody will ever forget this! And then a few days later the whole Madoff thing made it small potatoes… Marc Dreier was the guy’s name (to be clear, Elmore was not involved in the fraud. Dreier more or less did it alone, I think)
Also, yeah, Elmore was a great color guy but he got super salty toward the end.

I would expect Tee Johnson from Jackson Reed to get a hard look. He has been great at Jackson Reed and is a Gonzaga graduate.
Keith Urgo who recently just got fired from Fordham is an option.

I know buzz is a nomad, but I am not sure why they dislike the hire. He is a really good basketball coach and much better than anything else maryland could have got.
Buzz is a fine coach. Shoulda hired Tony Skinn though. Check back in 5 years.
He’s a good coach but Im sure for a fanbase who just got burned it doesnt feel good knowing you’re renting a coach.

Feels like an overreaction to what just happened to them. They got a little embarrassed, in a very public way with it all playing out during the tourney. Needed to win the press conference by hiring a name coach, not the local up and comer guy.

Damn did not think Maryland was gonna find a way to upgrade their quality of coach but it looks like they are. Anyone who doesn’t think this is a slam dunk hire (for them) is foolish. Character quirks or not, Buzz is a fantastic coach. Unequivocally better than Willard.
Only positive is that he will certainly leave after a couple years. If there was any place he was gonna stay for the long haul, A&M would’ve been it. The fact that he’s leaving shows that he has no care for building something long-term at 1 place and enjoys having a prolific career at a ton of different stops.
I understand why folks would be annoyed. I mean, I was gonna type a lot of words, but imagine finding out Buzz would be your coach? How would you feel?
