Just like Tony was all over Quinerly when he de-committed from Arizona. Oh wait. Or when he transferred from Nova. Oh. Or when Juzang left Kentucky? Or when SKJ hit the transfer portal? Never mind.

Don’t really see Tony re-entering this one.

He would immediately.

Quinerly was damaged goods/bags. You just listed transfers otherwise.
Shayok (Marquette) and Justin Anderson (Maryland) more appropriate comps (again its not Kon anyways but not the best comparison). High school decommits we were involved with. Also guys like Sam Hauser and Anthony Gill and Braxton Key who we had some connection to beforehand

Tony has definitely gone after guys who picked other teams initially. Have developed bit of a cottage industry of grabbing guys off the rebound

Walker Kessler we tried in the portal. Etc etc

Nov 6, 2023:

Isaiah Evans has announced he has de-committed from Duke and committed to Alabama

Watch it be Harris and just a ton of news for something that isn’t huge

I can see it being Kon. Paul VI guys aren’t going to decommit from Duke.

I assume he’s talking about Isaiah Evans. Makes no sense for him to go to Duke, assuming the players they expect back come back. But there’s also no reason for him to decommit until after the season. Singing period starts Wed, probably just hearing Evans or whoever isn’t signing not necessarily decommitting.

Same could be said for Darren Harris. It would be pretty surprising if they kept both of those guys.

I imagine Harris would instantly commit to Maryland after any decommitment (runner ups first go around and they need guards bad)

And then Isaiah Evans goes NC State or $EC. Reminds me of the typical NC State chucker/ā€œskilled wingā€.

For what it’s worth, Edgecombe has three crystal balls for Duke.

I’m ready to be hurt again. LoL.

Lol it’s probably Evans and he was just getting ahead of it. If Duke doesn’t get edgecombe he’ll stick it out. There’s been Isaiah Evans decommit smoke for the last month. Jamie Shaw in one of his On3+ articles a few weeks back even directly said ā€œThe expectation is that if Duke were to land Cooper Flagg, they would lose one of Isaiah Evans or Darren Harris, Evans being the more likelyā€ (paraphrasing but it was something like that)

Then again, there’s been whispers about Kon today, supposedly a chance he could come back in play if Edgecombe picks Duke. Despite the crystal ball picks, I’ve heard people don’t think Edgecombe is close to deciding though. Meanwhile Kon is expected to sign this week.

In that hypothetical scenario would we have an open scholly for Kon?

Yeah Edgecombe might decide in December when his HS team goes on a trip to the Bahamas where’s from.

I guess Kon could ask for his release any time

Have we kept the lines of communication open with Kon? If things went down the way we heard they did (aka Kon didn’t let Tony know before committing), it wouldn’t surprise me if Tony moved on quickly and didn’t look back.

I could totally see a scenario where Duke told VJ to wait until after signing day to commit to make things tougher on Kon if he wanted out.

He would make 13 if you assume that RB is leaving.

And IF he comes here I don’t see why there is any hoops reason for the Kiwi to stay on the roster. But to each his own…
