Athletic article about him a while back (paywall)
So I watched Nelson quite a bit over the last few years. Dude blew up in high school at Devils Lake. Dave Richman doesn’t usually play freshmen a ton of minutes at NDSU, and there were points he couldn’t keep Nelson off the floor his first year.
When they say he’s a unicorn, it’s definitely because he’s got guard skills and not because of shooting. He’s got the ability to put the ball on the deck and drive from the perimeter. If he’s a spot up shooter, he’s not too bad. And clearly, his athleticism puts him on the map. Dude was putting up highlight reel dunks as a junior in high school.
There are a couple issues with him to me. 1: Quickness really gets to him. You put him out guarding in space, he’s got problems staying in front. 2: When you get a big dude that tries to handle like he does, he really can be turnover prone. 3: If you watched him in the Summit League title game against Oral Bob, he was basically non-existent. They essentially forced him into being a big man and not a stretch four and it really bothered him. If he’s going into the portal against the big boys, that’s gonna happen again and I’m interested to see how he handles it. He’s gotta get his post moves figured out.
TLDR; Really nice prospect, the hype is legit and the highlights are incredible but the concerns are real.
How does being a stretch 4 hitting 27% from 3 work?
Sounds like Efton Reid is down to VCU or Wake Forest. Vcu curre t favorite, logic being easier to get hardship waiver to play immediately since he already transferred once? But i thought it was the year Will Wade got fired so he was allowed to free transfer?
Three of his AAU buddies have already transferred there, so would imagine VCU is the favorite.

Not the offseason Louisville needed
Louisville has become rhe dumpster fire that keeps on giving

Yes please. Assume this might be Houston or Ole Miss?
Damn guess they weren’t expecting that when Shedrick committed. This kid is an absolute stud, if taking Shedrick meant losing him… mistake numero uno by the new HC.
They don’t really play the same position, I think Texas would have had no problem playing Holland a ton with either Disu or Shedrick in the frontcourt, as Disu and Shedrick are like-for-like players.
It eats up front court minutes. Blue Cain and Reece don’t play the same position but Reece coming back would greatly effect Cains PT
I think Shedrick sees himself as a 4/5 who can stretch it out. I don’t think he went to Texas to showcase his abilities to be a backup to Disu. I think they play side by side.
