I remember when UNC was so excited for the Wilcher + GG Jackson 2023 duo.
Elliot Cadeau + (literally anyone but in this case Zayden high I guess) is also a good duo. But Gertrude/Buchanan better. On god.

Is Wilcher a combo guard who’s really a PG or like a combo who would probably play more 2/3 in college?

I give him credit for having the guts to back out if that’s what he thinks is right. Coaches make promises (they all do, even ours) when a player commits about roster additions going forward. But even when they violate it, most recruits stick anyway just because it’s embarrassing to decommit after they’ve gone through all the recruiting stuff and done all the interviews about how it was the perfect fit and yada.

But was the transfer from Brown worth it? Was Jaelyn Withers as a back up worth possibly missing out on Stevenson? Maybe they are when you’re UNC and can always get another high level guy. But Hubert is going all in one the year to year roster building…Roy’s rolling over in his hammock.

The other related issue is that Davis played a really super tight rotation to the detriment of guys like Trimble, Nickel, Dunn, Puff, and Jalen Washington, even when the guys ahead of them were not knocking it out of the park.
Of the blue bloods, I hate to say this, but it actually seems like Scheyer is kind of handling the new normal in roster building and management the best, so far. Maybe Self, but tbh, I don’t love Kansas’s roster this coming year.**

(I think Hurley, Dusty May, and Shaka kind of showed the model that I think will work best – use the portal wisely, but not over much).

In all seriousness, I’m not sure if Hubert is a good game coach yet or not. But he’s not managing the team well. All of this very public drama that seems to come up every 2-3 months for UNC. It’s a bad look.
I can’t say exactly what he should be doing differently, but looking at it in the aggregate, you have to ask why this stuff is happening.
(Imagine this was happening at Virginia … I can’t)
