One thing Kentucky is doing better than UVA is they have two jersey numbers for recruits to poise in lol
Lubin committing Tuesday and it’s looking like Notre Dame. ACC has recruited really well for '22 which is exciting.
Side note: for all the hype Tech had about this being a monster class, they ended up missing out on Ward, Nickel, Clowney, Lubin, Daley, Jackson, and a ton of other names considering they offered everyone and their uncle. Will likely end up with Rice (because of Louisville sanctions and hiring his HS coach) and two sub 200, low upside guys in Collins and Wessler). Normally I wouldn’t give a crap about how they’re doing on the trail but I have a number of Tech friends who had been blowing me up about how their recruiting class was going to be epic so it’s really funny to see that just not come anywhere clsoe to fruition.
I remember after Bond committed I saw posts that were like “going to be exciting to see who ends up with a better recruiting class” from Tech fans.
Lol
Most likely Auburn unless the UConn visit blew him away. A 6’5 guard who views himself as a point guard but probably can co-exist with a true 1.
How does everyone have such cool names now? @hoopsandhoos can we find the Doug Smith/ Joe Harris all boring names team?
Yup, that’s when I really became invested in Tech’s recruiting class lol. They’re getting way ahead of themselves but they will ultimately come to find out that you can’t bank on Wofford transfers and sub 300 recruits to always pan out.
You should see my son’s daycare. Next gen of athletes going to all have Lax names.
Just spent a few minutes scrolling the 2023 top 150 and this is the best I could do (I even found a Smith and a Harris for you):
PG: Trevor Smith
SG: Jason Jackson
SF: Tyler Harris
PF:Justin Johnson
C: Dennis Evans
Names are definitely way cooler than they used to be. Very few duds there. My favorite one on that list is Milan Momcilovic from Peewaukee.
This is solid. If I could go back would change my spelling at least to D’oug
Is there at least one Jaxson with an “x”? When we were in NOVA, and our kids were in youth sports, there seemed to be at least one on every league. And a Cole. And a Kai.
Not sure what I was influenced by. My sons; Keagan Bryce and Kobie Braden. ![]()
Just name your kid something like Devon Booker / Devin Booker / Devon Bookert and you know the kid will be good at hoops.
Every time Devon Bookert googles himself, poor guy has to read “did you mean Devin Booker?”
It’s OK, without the Doug and Dan Smiths of the world, this wouldn’t have been as funny…

Man never gets old. And the voices to match the school amazing
You saw yesterday in the NFL… Josh Allen sacked Josh Allen… Josh Allen also intercepted Josh Allen. First time in NFL history a person with the same name sacked and intercepted someone with the same name. They were both drafted #7 in their respective drafts as well. Spooky.
We still need a Raekwon/Raykwon/Ray’kwon in the program before people stop using that name.
How has UVa men’s* hoops never had a Jalen? That’s one trend we’ve skipped. Though I suspect Jaylen Gardner will be someone whose name we hear a lot. (*Women’s hoops has had a Jalen, per google).
For once, Tech fans were right. It was very exciting to see how the respective recruiting classes turned out.
How do you guys find this stuff? It did get simpler. My 2 favorite players are the ones easy to say. Donkey Teeth and Doug Smith’s cousin
They did another very similar version. Look up “Key and Peele football names.”
