Here is the problem with your analysis. If His NIL money is being paid by US sources then Much like Goosen and Garcia…he will have to file a 1040NR. He can certainly file that form and claim that his income is royalty based but his tax rate on that income will be determined based upon the treaty rate between the US and Congo otherwise it is a flat 30%. Heck it might be 30% anyways. There is audit risk on this position much like Goosen and Garcia. If his NIL money isn’t dependent on The UK uniform…then why did he even go there? Why not negotiate his own deal and just play ball wherever…outside the US? There are reasons why his likeness needs that UK uniform and that ESPN exposure. This all food for thought…but I think it is still worth rolling the dice and filing the 1040 NR with the cheapest rate. The IRS is behind that his returns will be outside the SOL and at a point in time when he is among nba money…if they assess him later on it is chump change…
Valid points. I wasn’t even trying to get him out of 30% WHT. Didn’t figure there was a tax treaty between the US and whichever country he’s from. Only goal was to not run afoul of his visa (by earning income in the US) and get him subject to a 3 year or 10 year bar from entering the US, so had to make the income all foreign source and this came to mind.
Note: my immigration knowledge is at least 15 years out of date and individual income tax hasn’t crossed my lane in 10 years.
Are we getting any accounting or law credit hours for this thread?

Got to go update the old resume and LinkedIn profile.
Better believe it. Enough time on LRA and you’ll be a certified paralegal by fall.
If you’re not a lawyer, congrats, you can now practice law. If you are, congrats, the good news is by reading LRA you are now qualified to coach D-1 hoops. Worked for Griff Aldrich…
Saying that did make me curious just how massive the gulf is between an amazing coach like Tony and like, me. If I were coaching this year’s team, I’m sure we’d have a losing record, but would we be winless? I think I could get them to beat a cupcake or two. If I just spam the pick-and-roll and let Igor and Taine run wild, maybe I’d win an ACC game?
Kam Craft sticking with Xavier. Smoke is Tyrell Ward sticks with his commitment there as well. Bagman doesn’t miss a step.
I don’t think the gulf is that massive between Tony and me. For example, I don’t think I would’ve made it past the elite 8. I’M JOKING, FOLKS…
I think if you assumed that you wouldn’t lose the locker room and the players and assistant coaches would respect you etc, you could win a few. Agree spam pick and roll + a man to man defense and hopefully you get a couple hot shooting nights. Even NC State won games this year
It might be a bold assumption, given that it’d probably become pretty clear the only play on offense I really knew was the pick and roll. Maybe I’d shout “horn set” every now and again because I heard it on TV and maybe the players would know what to do.
This legitimately did make me much more optimistic about my chances. I am capable of saying “Just go out there and let it fly!” just like Kevin Keatts.

Um, yeah. Sure did.
They let it fly, and for once this season, their crappy shots hit their mark.
I don’t even feel bad about that loss. They shot the lights out and it didn’t matter how good the shot was. There’s not much to be done about that. I’m much more annoyed about pretty much every other ACC loss we had.
Wonder if Ryan Mutumbo becomes available, and if Dad would let him leave the beloved alma matter with Ewing as coach to develop down here behind kadin.

If you believe DTW, he’d have the team in the NCAA tournament because Murray and Milicic would be on the ACC all rookie team and supplanting Clark, Franklin, Gardner and Caffaro.
Well at least get the facts straight.

Murray and Milicic would have replaced all of Statts’ minutes and Poindexter’s.
McCorkle would have replaced 15 of Clark’s minutes.
Murray would have replaced 6 of Armaan’s minutes.
I would have not asked Shedrick to hedge one single time all year in the first 30 minutes of a game.
Hence he never got into foul trouble and played 30 minutes a game.
Caffaro could hedge or whatever during his 5 minutes a game. Don’t care.
Minutes"
Reece: 32
Gardner: 30
Shedrick: 28
Murray: 25
Milicic: 25
Franklin: 25
Clark: 18
McCorkle: 17
Caffaro and Statts? Break glass in case of emergency.
Forgot about Statts and Dex.
You know, I wonder if Young MC was really talking about Malachi in Bust A Move. I mean, he gets the ball and wants to shoot, but never shoots.
Ok, smarty, go to a party
Girls are scantily clad and showin’ body
A chick walks by you wish you could sex her
But you’re standin’ on the wall like you was Poindexter
That’s the best you could come up with seriously?
