Outside UVa Recruiting

Its very Arkansas to want him, but I can’t imagine he’d actually go there and do the whole “actually be at risk of not starting” thing. Is there a favorite? Michigan feels like a bit of an odd duck.

Schiermann to Creighton, if he doesn’t stay in the draft

I am stunned that the programs tied to the scandal are also the ones driving up NIL prices

I agree with this, but also Creighton makes some sense, too. Offensively minded program. Relatively close to home. Probably the least athletic of the power 6 conferences.

But they are a Power bidder

Another athletic big for Washington State. Hope we get him in the portal next off season

Some hilarious lack of self-awareness here.

Sounds like VT is getting Grant Basile from Wright State. Looks to have good touch around the hoop, unathletic, and bad 3-point shooter but will turn into a 40% shooter for Mike Young. Not really sure what to make of this get for them. If Mutts leaves as they expect there’s still a gaping hole at the 4

If Mutts comes back, I think they are about the same as last year. I think their backcourt could be better but it’s unknown how those guys will perform for a full season, instead of just the last 20% or so. But the potential is there and I think they make the tournament if he comes back.

Without him, I think they really miss his defense and it puts too much pressure on their new/young backcourt. Also don’t think Basile is a 1:1 replacement for Aluma like they do. I don’t expect a Horizon League big, with limited athleticism, to come in and be borderline 1st team All ACC, though he’ll certainly have good games. I expect Mutts returns and they have a similar season as last year but a better start in the first half the year or so

Would be wild for Mutts to come back, he has 3 degrees and has made it clear he wants to make it professionally. Losing him is bigger than Aluma imo.

Basile is a fine replacement but they are losing a lot. Just the degree of change a lot for them. it’ll take a while for them to click especially if mutts leaves.

Mutts is like Draymond Green - the glue

Agreed. Aluma is obviously talented and an impact player, but Mutts is a lot better than I’d thought. Not flashy, but good at a ton of different things that lets him paper over the cracks in everyone else’s game.

BVP’s game actually reminds me of Mutt’s to an extent. Both play out on the perimeter a good bit and are head up always looking for cutters. Tech and Ohio ran a lot of sets through both players

I agree, they are losing a ton - Murphy, Aluma, Mutts (possibly), Alleyne, Nolle…they all had considerable ACC experience and matchup advantages with UVA that are gone. I know a few will step in but that team won’t be nearly as formidable IMO. We shall see.

Underrated difference is they were previous pulling from a transfer pool who knew mike young’s sets. Now they will have transfers from outside of their system so expecting the same cohesiveness and impact is much more tenuous.
