Of all the annoying legacies of Michael Jordan, this one is the most annoying. Inventing a guy who thinks you’re not good so you can convince that invented guy you’re good. So dumb. Yet apparently effective.

Consensus #1 or #2 overall football recruit Bryce Young said he felt overlooked and underappreciated (despite the dozens of offers from every name brand school, eventually choosing that underdog Alabama), so he went out to prove everyone wrong and in the process won the Heisman.
Imaginary grievances is a highly effective motivator for high functioning competitive people.
