Yeah if you watch BYU, you wonder why they insisted on Demin running point as much as they did. Donât get me wrong, Demin is a unicorn of a player, but idk why they didnât shift him off ball more to play alongside Hall. I kinda think they wouldâve won more games if they just let Hall run the point for 30+ mpg.
This is why we have to wait 45 mins on a doctor to see us even with an appointment.
I figured I was missing something over there in VIP
What is the acceptable spelling of GrĂźnloh without needing to copy in the overhead thingy. I see it Grunloh and Gruenloh. @jazznutUVA
This one.
@HoozGotNext If you want to nerd out on it a bit more⌠my discussion with @Haney
As a BYU fan(as well as a UVA fan ofc) whoâs watched him for 3 years, I love Dallin Hall, but think we need to temper some expectations here lol.
Would he have raised BYUâs floor last year? Absolutely, but I think him running the show wouldâve lowered their ceiling. Deminâs growing pains are what led to the breakout and run that BYU went on.
Heâs a sturdy guy, can get to his spots and whatnot, and has an effective jump shot thatâs better off the dribble than off a screen or whatnot(similar to what we saw from Jerome).
He was awesome in a win against Iowa State at their place, but looked completely overwhelmed against Bamaâs athleticism and length in the S16. BYU loved him and wanted him back, but they werenât willing to have him be the starting PG. Obviously BYU has Dybantsa and is assembling this roster around him, a la Duke with Flagg, but should probably temper Dallin Hall NBA talk. They donât believe heâs a good enough starting PG for a team that has F4 and national title aspirations, though he was welcomed back as a key bench guy on a team with those hopes. He was an elite backup PG, but reservations of handing him the keys fully:
Heâs a good shooter, a good passer, and good at getting to the hoop because of his strength, but struggles a little bit with his handle. Heâs really a combo guard at heart. Probably not dynamic enough to play off ball, so you live with him as an on ball guy and take the lumps with the handle(which is well worth it tbf)!
So what is my point? I think Dallin Hall is an excellent stopgap PG choice for a new coach trying to make the tournament in year 1 in the same vain as Michigan, UL, etc. etc. Heâll be an above average PG for us.
Is he some massive game changer? He can be on certain nights but donât expect that on a nightly basis. But I think the lofty goals and rhetoric of him on this board will make people a little disappointed.
Jazz to the quick rescue, thank you sir!
Yup pretty much. Being in Illinois, I typically get overconfident Illinois fans who want to tell me how good theyâre gonna be and that typically puts me behind.
We just watched a season where we had no point guard and had a losing record in a bad acc.
Dallin Hall is my Lebron James for all that it matters
Someone I wanted out of HS. Was at Oak Hill and could have 4 years left
Iâd like this. Good shot blocker and rim runner, but also has some finesse around the rim. Pretty fluid.
But is he better than Kadin?
Heâs probably Kadin who can shoot threes but no idea if as a good a perimeter defender as Kadin was for his height
Heâs probably going to go mid Major to get heavy play
The NCAA denied Taulia Tagovailoaâs waiver over 2 snaps in a 5th game his Freshman season despite big time support from Alabama saying it was their fault. I donât see why they would rule differently here.
I want to be very clear that I LOVE the pickup for us. But also was just tempering NBA expectations.
@CaptainThurman15 good show? Wife and I considered it but went in a different directionâŚ
To make this topical, I bet Dallin Hall is a big Andor fan!
We liked it. Good thing is, itâs a short series, so youâre only in for six episodes even if you donât like it.
May bode poorly for pursuit of Thomas.

Says it was Carrere but didnât he visit like 2 weeks ago? Doesnât really make sense for him to be back and with the whole staff
