No one is moving the goal posts lmao I think people have been very consistent. Our SG was the weakest link last year with that identical lineup and it produced a⦠R32 and a very sketchy first round game. Iām very high on the four you mentioned, but there is a clear title window right now if you nail the two guard
Student section after each of his dunksā¦.

How many people in the portal would clearly start over Dixon? The guys in the draft, McNeil⦠that may be it!
I havent moved a single goalpost. We know who we are based on last season. It isnt enough. Must improve our weak areas.
How many spots left? Iād still like another guard and big.

So youāre saying he might be good, average, or bad?
I like to consider all possible eventualities! ![]()
Yeah, we need an absolute stud at the 2 right now. Iām comfortable with Dixon as a back up guard but not as as our starting 2. We struggled against high-end teams last season (by struggle, I mean we got our butt kicked clearly). We had a high floor, but low ceiling. Thatās our problem. We either load up on veteran mid-major stars again, or we pursue high-end younger talent. Those are the two ends of the spectrum. The continuity will help, but we canāt be mesmerized by stats from mid major stars in weak conferences.
You think we paid Dixon to come to UVa?
You think we didnāt? He had other options
Heās joking.
Eight.
Four scholarships left. I assume a big, a ball handler, maybe a shooter, maybe another big. Fill in any remaining with developmental guys
I encourage you to speak your mind, for those too scared to do so. Take your time. I know itās a lot.
Dont know. I only asked. If we paid for real waste. Last year made sense kinda. But this time I am not so sure
Most teams struggle against high-end teams. Thatās what makes them high-end ā the fact that theyāre good and itās tough to play against them.
There was not an upgrade available to us for Ugo - would have taken a big time bag and a promise of big minutes.
I think that that is a bit simplistic. The team was 30-6. To my way of thinking that was remarkable. None of the rotation players had ever played a game together. Virginia lost to VT (in triple OT) without Jacari White in the line-up, and he was far from 100% (played 10 min, 2 pts) when UVa lost to Carolina, and 80-85 is hardly a butt kicking. In fact, the only ābutt kickingā was suffered at Cameron, and lots of very good butts get kicked there. Additionally, having a healthy Grünloh at the end of the season would have helped more than having a stud SG, IMO. Looking at his stats, it is not unreasonable to believe that Dixon is a very adequate replacement for Thomas. What is now needed is a microwave scorer off the bench, a backup point guard, and a backup center (if Virginia doesnāt already have one). It is also not unreasonable to imagine that the bit of continuity the team now possesses has more than a little value.
Rumor is LSU is giving McNeil 4.5 million and a house, definitely not worth a one dimensional scorer and a career minus defender
