Terrance Arceneaux in the portal. Was really bummed when we didnāt land him last year but he underwhelmed at NCSU.
Really a midrange guy with some athleticism and instincts for rebounds. But not really a fit for what Odom seems to be looking for offensively. Think he could be a really good wing defender though.
Serious question - I assume they would have a religious exemption to this (I.e. Mormon mission)? What about the minor league baseball exemption (the Chris Weinke/Brandon Weeden clause)? Feels a bit simplistic.
Do we keep Ugo around then and pay him in anticipation of this rule? They want to implement it beginning fall 2026
Malik Tillis and Jacari have all played 5 years already (and are 24-25 which also ages out Hall)
I believe we were involved last year
Incredible shooter but is a poor defender and doesnt do anything else on offense.
Good size, good 3P%, and you get the post-Tang bump which has worked out really well for us so far, Iām interested
That % from the Big 12 is going to command a lot of money for a pretty one-dimensional guy though
No dispensation for BYU and their missions?
Many questions answered in that Yahoo article already.
Religious exceptions:
According to the concept, NCAA athletes would have five full years of eligibility from the time of their 19th birthday or their high school graduation, whichever is earliest. No waiver requests, redshirts or exceptions will be permitted, except for a small group of outliers (those on maternity leave, military service or religious missions).
Timing and will it apply to current athletes who have completed four seasons in four years:
Members of the NCAA Division I Cabinet are set to review the proposal at their meeting next week. While a timeline for approval remains unclear ā it is likely weeks or months away ā the legislation is considered an urgent matter with potential for implementation as soon as this coming academic year (fall 2026).
Any implementation is expected to be phased in as is the case with most new NCAA policy. For instance, leaders will take strides to avoid adversely impacting any current athleteās long-term eligibility under existing rules. Whatās unclear is if those players completing or having completed their final, fourth season of eligibility will regain a fifth season if they fall within the new policyās five-year window.
Iām sort of surprised. Itās Wednesday and there are fewer than 2K names in the portal. Or, am I missing something? I thought the portal was to be in place just two weeks. For the past few seasons, there have been more than 3K entries. Do players just have the two weeks to enter the portal, but can remain in it indefinitely after that? I had thought that the transfer season (with immediate eligibility) was going to be short & sweet this year. Just a bit curious.
Yes two weeks to enter but can commit whenever. It does seem like there is a bit more of an emphasis on retention this year, similar to football
Thank you.
GERTRUDE IS BACK
Great upside! Work on the jumper he should be good to go. Glad he is back!
Thatās awesome! He was the one I feared was a goner.
3 coaches, near-total turnover of his teammates, a major injury, negligible PT⦠and heās sticking around! Gertrude bleeds orange and blue
Also, I hope Elijah worked an NYC area game into his NIL contract
Iām getting my hopes up on Lewis and probably shouldnāt. Just will make it hurt more
Remember when we knew the players on every team in the ACC for more than a semester? I do, and I miss that. Seems like a distant memory
Fuck Ed OāBannon - the godfather of chaos. This is all his fault. Happy to have you crazies to guide me through this. Butā¦. The transfer portal brought us Rohde and TJP so I donāt trust it for a second.
So huge for continuity. Keeping the developmental guys around is a sign of a great program. We should want to be the Purdue of the ACC imo
