Serious meh…
Offered by Odom at both Utah State and at VCU….
Taj DeGourville is kind of beneath uva.
Would be a horrible sign.
Here are the Top 5 ways non-VIP groups are better than VIP groups.
So you’re saying there’s more going on with Odom and the program than meets the eye…
I’m still trying to figure out what hes saying there..
Update from a reliable source from another UVA sports forum:
“Have been talking to a few friends who vary in level to the program/VAF.

This “woe is UVA” narrative the board is going to is a bit premature. The $$ remains, UVA is still replacing Thomas, Hall, Oyneso, Tillis, and White. Thomas and White were sizeable with NIL, albeit a bit lower given 1 year versus multiple years. So those thinking there is not any money or uva is now a bargin bin are not correct.
-
Slow portal so far makes sense, UVA is looking for correct fit as opposed to just getting talent in the door. UVA was never going to compete for a Flory Bidunga/Juke Harris type - the money is good but it is not FU money. Last year was a bit different as Odom had full opportunity to get talent in the door versus attacking specific positions of need. Right now, there is really only 2 positions that have a sizeable role left - a true starting 2 and a starting level combo guard to play PG/SG. UVA has targeted a few players, but from what I have been told, the Cornell guy was really being looked at hard. Lewis returning took a little more money than initial offer, but not team breaking.
-
On prospects, Cornell guy should be coming to a decision soon. I have been told on Cloer that the big difference was level of PT being offered by Alabama, money is in the ballpark but Bama is offering the likelihood of starting/major minutes on the wing whereas UVA is offering a clear role player role. No decision is made yet, but Cloer’s camp is surprised at level of interest from programs - Bama/a few others were after UVA. UVA had best offer until some other schools began offering more overall (not just $$). As for Terrance Hill - I was told UVA was not that interested, and Hill was not interested either. A lot of the initial “smoke” was more expectation than reality. I have been told it is likely UVA will go after Bamgoye hard and I have also seen a few rumblings about UVA wanting to get involved with Rob Wright from Baylor/BYU. Have also heard that UVA is involved with a few guys that have draft considerations so that is affecting some of the developments.
-
Euro. UVA is targeting some euro players, but general industry is Euro will heat up once the college portal is done and markets are set. Lot of Euro players are looked at as a “fix” as opposed to true roster building so that market will develop more once the college portal slows down.
-
Big picture - UVA has 4 of 8 major PT roles already filled and are really looking for specific fit as opposed to best talent available. They have a lot of flexibility in terms of who they get at the CG, SG and backup 5 between US guys and Euro. I have also been told that the expectation is that the combo of Gertrude, Carrere and Barksdale will help round out the rotation of the 9th and 10th role, which is a good thing. We will see if that stays true throughout additions.
I get the concern, but a lot of it is premature and just simply wrong. I would be curious to know if anyone has heard different, specifically re Cloer and Hill, as well as returning guys, info is hard to verify so take everything I am relaying with a grain of salt.”
Thought I had VIP access for a second
I think the Cloer thing makes total sense. I have referenced it in VIP, but it is more of a hunch, that opportunities were less here because we are returning 7 players.
I’m not worried. Just want Sam publicly signed. That will take a ton of angst away from the Woe is me crowd

No it won’t. It’s the same contingent of UVA fans that have always and will continue to move the goal posts no matter what.
That post was from wahoo2023 on the Sabre if anyone knows of him.
I thought Rob Weight said he’s returning to BYU?
I wonder if 2027 reclasses come into play for that bench combo spot. Odom and staff offered a lot of highly ranked 2027 guards when they first took the job.
I also wonder if staff try to poach someone already committed elsewhere. Until the sign and step on grounds they are fair game.
Kayden Mingo to Baylor.
So not a package deal with his brother Dylan
This nugget makes me think we should expand our fan board view around who we are targeting. He’s an expensive, high profile guy. John Blackwell? lol.
Honestly, its better “intel” than anything else we’ve gotten in a while FWIW
To be fair, there is a large group of overly optimistic fans too. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I personally consider myself generally optimistic, but I’m feeling a bit pessimistic this offseason. And this makes me more pessimistic in a tragic feedback loop kinda fashion.
