Defense is the big issue with him. Hopefully that can be figured out
We can hide guards defensively. Heās no worse a defender than Guy or Jerome. Our starting lineup is missing that defensive versatile wing in the lineup. Reece Armaan and Kadin are a solid defensive trio and hopefully Jayden takes that next step defensively and continues the growth he showed down the stretch (shutting down Paolo but struggling to close out on stretch 4s).
He canāt be that bad. Was a 2 year starter for Bob Huggins who emphasizes defense too.
He was solid enough. Not a plus defender. Had the benefit of being surrounded by 3-4 athletic full court Huggins types at all times.
It would be interesting. Without that Wilkins/Akil/Hunter/Braxton/Mamadi 4 man can we hide him with only Kadin in the post? Hopefully Armaan and Reece help offset that some.
Of course all hypothetical. Who knows who we get.
Just parroting Sam vecine tbh. WVU fans complained about his defense a lot this year
Donāt believe everything you read. (may not apply to whatever you are currently reading)
Marvin Gaye?
Impacts of the portal on HS. Also saw Rick Lewis tweeting about how there is a growing number of unsigned seniors in HS and that not as many coaches are going to be out in the opening weeks of AAU hosting transfers at their school.
I am for the transfer portal/immediate eligiblity. I think most kids end up back at the same school or end up without a home. It will take a few years for those common stories to be more apparent to players than the rarer successful transfers. Something we just need to wait out and eventually adjust to.
Marreese Speights, thatās a name I havenāt seen or thought about in a long time.
What if the transfer portal is the new Moneyball?
Soddy: Why are we saving scholarship spots for transfers?
CTB: Because you can see how they play against college competition. Transfers get off the bench.
Soddy: Wouldnāt you rather take a chance on a promising high school prospect?
CTB: Iād rather see how they play against college competition. Transfers get off the bench.
Soddy: But we could get first crack at a high school prospect?
CTB: Iād rather have a college player that canāt transfer again without sitting out a year. More likely to stay committed to the program.
Soddy: So you want to take big swings developing relationships with the best high school players and save room for transfer scholarships?
CTB: Yes, transfers get off the bench.
Elijah Weaver from Dayton is in the portal. I wouldnāt mind a big guard who can drive and handle the ball
35% on only 2 attempts a game 1:1 at ratio. Doesnāt seem like a 3pt threat or a defensive versatile wing or a lead guard/not in the same class as the transfers we have contacted or who will be available after final 4.
Iām just trying to crush your transfer portal manifestations to preserve my own manifestations cause only one can win out. I figure if I crush enough mine will gain the power to overcome Tonyās manifestations for the roster
I donāt want this to be true but I have to agree with this concept. Nice use of Moneyball btw. CTB has been pretty successful in evaluating the players who get off the bench and want to upgrade from the mid majors (Trey, Tomas, Gardner).
With all of the message board traffic discussing possible transfers, Iām starting to wonder if the new NCAA transfer rules are the result of a behind-the-scenes conspiracy by recruiting websites so they can keep garnering clicks and subscriptions during the formerly sleepy times in the recruiting calendar. (TIC)
It is, and Iāve been saying for a year that the highest value player is now the freshman transfer because now heās stuck. You can not play him even if his name starts with M but whatās he gonna do, transfer?
Well, yeah. There were still a decent number of transfers when guys had to sit out a year. They donāt lose a year of eligibility with a second transfer.
Who has the record for most D1 teams a player has been on over their career/eligibility?
Not sure off the top but Charlie Moore (most recently on Miami) played for 5 different schools IIRC.
