Charlie Moore committed to Memphis, but was released from his NLI when Pastner went to GT. Moore then went to Cal for his Freshman season, transferred to Kansas when Cuonzo Martin wnt to Missouri. Sat out a redshirt year, then played his redshirt Sophomore year at Kansas. Transferred to DePaul near his hometown of Chicago to be closer to his dad who had health problems. Played his redshirt Junior and Senior years for old friend Dave Leito. Then grad transferred to Miami for his bonus Covid year.
Iām sure thereās other 4 school guys or soon to be 4 school guys, but this is the most famous case I think.
To do 5 schools, youād need a sit out transfer, a hardship transfer, an immediate eligibility transfer and a grad transfer. And youād need 6 years to play 5 seasons including the Covid season.
So something like
16-17 - School A
17-18 - School B hardship transfer
18-19 - School C regular redshirt transfer
19-20 - School C 3rd year of eligibility
20-21 - School D grad transfer
21-22 - School E immediate eligibility transfer to play bonus Covid season
Wow, flashbacks. His cycle was the first one where I started following recruiting and watching mixtapes. He was the first guy whose tape I really liked, and I was bummed when we didnāt get him. Then I kind of followed his career and thought āI need to refine my mixtape interpretation skills.ā Who knows if Iāve actually made progress, but itās fun all the same.
Jalen Coleman-Lands an even more extreme example - was able to use 1) Transfer āsit outā year, 2) RS injury year and 3) COVID year. Seven total seasons.
Just watched Malachiās transfer video. At the beginning of the practice tape section (linked to time stamp 3:36 below), 4 of the first 5 plays are Igor knocking down threes. Man I hope he stays.
Iām curious though, do we feel he is somewhat redundant in skillset to Traudt? iād happily have 4 dudes who are 6ā9ā'+ and can hit threes, so not saying itās fine if he is one who transfers⦠BUT I have wondered if they will be fighting each other for minutes next year.
Those who know, does one of them offer something the other doesnāt? Maybe Traudt can do a little more traditional big man stuff, too (so more of a 4/5, while Igor is a 3/4)?
I kind of think of Igor more as a 4 who can occasionally play the 3 (see Stattmannās role). I cannot imagine Igor as a 5. But I also know nothing, haha.
Small ball baby. And if he gets paired up vs a Bacot type, heāll just exploit the mismatch on the offensive end the traditional big will get yanked for someone who can guard him. Best defense really.
I just⦠I cannot agree, haha. I understand the theory, and it works with a springy athlete like Mamadi at the 5, but I donāt think Igor is a Mamadi. I think if Igor got matched up with Bacot, he would be murdered inside for 2 points every time. I like Igor a lot, but I donāt think heās going be banging down low with ACC 5s on the defensive end any time soon.
But maybe my imagination is too limited and Iāll have to expand my mental horizons.
Works if Igor or someone can bait Bacot to come out of his comfort zone and defend away from the basket. Can get 2 quick ones on him (if the game isnt in Chapel Hill)
Oh yeah its moreso my insane fantasy. Tony would never have a lineup that didnāt defensively matchup with the opponents team. Itās his defense first culture that is at the heart of this program and itās why we love him (see, switched it up to positive at the end there).
