San Jose press first had the article and itās spreading and being confirmed USC, UCLA moving from Pac-12 to Big Ten in 2024 - ESPN
So much for the āAllianceā between the B1G ACC and Pac12.
Hopefully this motivates the ACC to get off itās ass OR motivates UVA (Jim Ryan/Carla/Board) to make that B1G move and jump off the sinking ship
UVA might have just gotten super screwed today.
-Several tweets on twitter also talking about how Pac12 remnants and Big12 might merge into itās own super conference
-Given that B1G gets USC UCLA, they only need Notre Dame and one other school I think to get the 20 teams they need. the USC/UCLA move means its more unlikely UVA will be able to get into the B1G.
-Clemson and FSU have been eyeing the SEC but their rival instate counterparts might block those moves.
All because we trusted a bullshirt alliance not even etched in paper and were dependent on ātraditionā and hopes/dreams of an unproven new TV negotiation.
Thatās about it. The ACC has been reactionary to all this from the start while the SEC and BIG make moves. Chess vs checkers
Doesnt help that the ACC was already at a MAJOR disadvantage
Iām old fashioned for sure but these super conferences seem just awful for college sports outside football. But I still think of FSU as an ACC expansion team so thatās me.
Someone on twitter made the point that college sports are being run by CEOs focusing on finances and mergers when the appeal of college sports is tradition.
All this alignment talk has my inner-boomer fuming. āBack in my dayā¦ā
Thereās gotta be some blackhole analogy hereā¦like these conferences are going to continue to expand before they eventually eat themselves.
LMAO
Man the tweets going off today
Should we think about making a pact with UNC and Duke to stay together? Seems like that whole would be better than the sum of its parts ā give us more leverage
Yes but will we. No.
LA is in the Midwest, now? So confusedā¦
Also all of this has to mean Gonzaga joins the big east? Or would it be too much money for their program to travel to the east coast for every other game?
We are 10 yrs away from a super league forming and functioning outside the NCAA
