Last night I was checking the 247 Indiana site and the guy who moderated the site said UVa and Purdue are right on the next line to IU with Carolina trailing all three. Some Kentucky talk started and Brian Snow chimed in although Kaufman wants a UK offer, he felt he doesn’t want to go there. He also mention IU would be involved with Hopkins and Kaufman/ Hopkins aren’t a good match.
Thought it was an interesting conversation. If UVa could somehow get him to Charlottesville, it feels like they could sway him, especially as strong as he is academically.
Can you imagine a class of Kaufman, Murray, and Houstan. I know Houstan is a long shot but we could afford to hold out for him or a top transfer because there should be plenty.
Yes, indeed. Malcolm, Debrickashaw, and Jowon were similarly well-rounded prospects amongst many others that were attracted to UVA. Hopefully, he’ll find his home in C-ville!
Saw where Texas is recruiting Austin Nunez and in the recruitment, Shaka Smart actually asked Nunez to write a book report on Kobe Bryant’s book. Says it helped strengthen the bond there.
What an interesting and unique approach. Definitely has to leave somewhat of an impression.
Anyone have on insight why football recruits are making unescorted visits to campuses but basketball recruits don’t really appear to be doing the same?
Dont think we are at this time. Things change so maybe we will in the future? Still very early in 2022. Nothing but rumors (so nothing verified) but I think tony is looking for a pure pg in 2022 and hopes the big guard in 2021 develops into that combo or McKneely could be that combo guard with a deadly outside shot as well
Also still early in 2022 especially since UVA has yet to begin its full court recruiting due to COVID and not knowing future roster make up with lack of 2021 class.
With Nickel I wonder whether he is closer to 6’6 or 6’8 and which position he plays and defend. And if Tony is down for a 3/4 tweener.
(I am a huge Nickel fan but I have no idea if we pursue him heavily or not)
