Reece Beekman is doing the right thing. Absolutely! I don’t think there’s any question of that. He should go to the combines, get feedback, and evaluate his prospects. If the consensus is that he is a 1st round pick, he has to go. I don’t ever want to see a repeat of the Anthony Poindexter experience. Everyone should remember that. If he’s projected in the 2nd round, then he has a lot questions he has to ask of himself. If he isn’t projected as a draft pick, he’s done the prudent thing and left the door open to return.
Reece Beekman, as near as I can tell from afar, is exactly the sort of player Virginia should pursue. Someone that, with time and effort, can make il to the next level. And, a lot of those players won’t necessarily take four years to do it. When their time comes, this is the way it should be done.
I keep pointing this out. Then why why why are we not involved with top pgs in the portal. Surely the staff knows if all you guys do and would be able to sell a great opportunity. We all know CTB is not going into next season w just Harrison as a primary and IMac and Gertrude? as secondary ball handlers. Just like we aren’t going into next season w IMac as our only true
3 put threat.
Waiting for a few of these surprise rabbits to come out of their hats.
Thank you for your comment. Among other things, I have found that forum posters who invoke the phrase, “Book it!”, are invariably wrong. You give me hope!
I loved college – and also knew there was a point when I was ready to move on.
I think that’s what it comes down to for Reece. From a basketball perspective, I don’t think he gains anything by going pro this year: He won’t hurt his draft stock coming back for another year, and the $500k he’d make as a two-way player in the NBA is probably less than he’d make in NIL. The question is whether he feels it’s time to move on. Has he had enough of college and college basketball? Is he ready for the next chapter? That’s a personal decision that only he knows the answer to.
I mean - don’t get me wrong it’s not as if I’m enthusiastic with this take…but it’s not even a “take” - Reece is all-in and he’s not coming back (and I don’t get the feeling this is a secret inside JPJ). Fresh had the most logical perspective on this on the podcast recently. He’s not really testing anything… he’s not returning to school at this point. Do I know 100%? No, I don’t. but come on..this is about as close as you can get to an automatic winner. Look at this from a broader perspective and evaluate all of the variables. No way in hell he returns.
Whatever it was, I always loved watching Reece play and one of my personal favorites all time.
If Reece is “all in,” why did he explicitly announce he was reserving the option of returning to school? Armaan didn’t. If you’re all in, you just jump – you don’t leave yourself a safety net.
Reece may very well be leaning – perhaps even leaning heavily – toward the NBA, but I don’t think he’s fully decided, and I think what happens at the combine will help influence his decision.
The obvious answer is it’s boiler plate language, protocol. To not include it would be just flat out negligent by his camp, especially in a world with NILs…there’s a possibility now someone throws him $2mil to transfer next year. (And honestly, putting my fandom aside, I would absolutely not even be mad at him for that although I think this is HIGHLY unlikely. 99% of us here would do that same). You’re really overthinking this. Furthermore, technically he has eligibility beyond a COVID year, whereas Armaan is literally done with school.
Wait. He’s all in on the draft, but there’s also a possibility he transfers? My dude, I don’t even need to argue with you anymore. I’ll just let you argue with yourself.
