Yup no fix for being too short. And honestly, why I agree I don’t think Reece is an NBA player. At least KG can shoot, Reece hasn’t proven he can do that, and he has some holes in his handles.
Sure undersized PG’s who can play defense can make it in the NBA but they all also bring something special, a spark something. Reece hasn’t shown he can do that yet. Another year of seasoning could go a long way for him.
The way I see it, barring a catastrophic injury Reece won’t hurt his draft stock returning. He’s on the outside of the 2nd round looking in, what’s he got to lose?

Exactly. I don’t think he can hurt his draft stock by coming back, since right now he doesn’t seem to have any to lose. Even if he’s projected back half of the 2nd round, those are mostly playoff teams and most won’t give a rookie guaranteed money. Maybe a 2 way deal or a non-guaranteed deal, which he might be able to get as a UDFA anyway. I say all this barring a catastrophic career ending type injury (which if occurred as a non-guaranteed salary pro would have the same financial result anyway).
That’s fine if he just wants to get his pro career started and start making a living. Maybe if he spends a healthy year in college, show improvement and potential on things NBA teams are looking for (like 40%+ from 3 on high volume or running point full time) he can get into the top 40 or 45 range, maybe even into the 1st round.
I like Fred VanVleet as a comp with their defense and quick hands and size.
Also, we should note what happened to Reece’s!! brother, so the family situation may be a bigger factor than we realize.

Only thing I want to add here is that the 500k is not guaranteed. Teams shuffle their two way contracts all the time.
It might be the case that teams wouldn’t do that to a guy they drafted, but I’m just speculating.

True, but is there 500k for him to stay? Would speak volumes about our ability to retain players if that sum of $ is out there.
Hoo knows for an ACC Defender of the year? We haven’t had that type of player return to NIL opportunities yet.
100K minimum right now easily. He would need to hustle to get to 250K but I think he could … problem is he’s a bit of an introvert.

I’ve wondered about that as well. It certainly factors in some way. Even if it’s a “tomorrows never promised” mindset.

Players like Reece who are introverts really need a handler or agent to help maximize the NIL possibilities.

Am i the only one to read his announcement to put his name in the draft to read it as he may not come back to UVA anyway. That he may transfer if he come back to college
He didn’t say that be he sounded like he was done at UVA. The way it was worded gave me some worry. Just pray im wrong

I don’t think so, but I wouldn’t blame him. He should have been running point all 3 years. Now he’s staring at Harris, and maybe thinks it’ll be the same deal if he comes back. The 2 PG system, imo, is akin to what we saw with Sims and Rocco.

Anyone not going back to the original school after entering the draft has also put their name in the transfer portal. Reece didn’t do that. His is the same kind of boiler plate stuff you get from anyone entering the draft retaining eligibility.

I mean I think if he wanted to do that he would’ve put his name in the portal. Guys do that, Kofi Cockburn for example. So if he didn’t put his name in the portal I’d assume it’s because he’s not considering transferring. Could be wrong though.
