⛹️‍♂️ Reece Beekman - Official Thread

I completely agree…he’s a good athlete… but not good enough to overcome his mediocre shooting…he will never be a great 3 point shooter…it’s just not him. He can play pro but not in the nba…as fresh has says …not sure why he would stay another year…bc imo he won’t become a better shooter…which is his problem for the nba…

Reece is just one of those odd players who could be an ACCPOY/all American candidate but also possibly not draftable

Or could end up playing 10 years in the NBA. Nao sei

He’s obviously not a natural shooter, but he has improved every year. If he can improve next year and get to around 40%, that’s a lot better. How that shot translates to the NBA, idk.

yep - he would be an early favorite for ACC POY/DPOY next year and on lists for NDPOY if he comes back

If he leaves now, he could go undrafted and end up not playing much

Or he could go 55, (or 35 next year  ) and then play 10 years in the league

But also, this is a backup PG in the league resume

Maybe Reece!! Thinks NBA better for him. I dont think after 4 years scouts look at 1 year of stats for a guy at this point. I also dont see a guy like him improving on what he needs to improve on to get attemtion by the NBA yoy. Has never been a secret what area he needed to really get better at

Yeah Delon is the comparison. Or maybe Jevon Carter or Deuce McBride? All of those guys showed more offense at the college level though.

Reece’s issue is he has multiple holes that need to be filled. We all know about the shooting. But the handles are a big issue as well. Spoken to a few nba folks i know who pointed that out before the shooting. The athleticism comes next. It could be argued he wasn’t even the best athlete on his team last yr so tough to claim he’s NBA elite. Last is experience. He’s never had to be the lead guy and shown he can run a team.

I love Reece and want what’s best for him but all the above are the things thay teams will look at and pick at before they invest a half a mil in him.

100% agree. At this point the only thing I think college can offer him is exposure on a big stage. But that’s doubled edged because Reece is gonna have to take his game to a place it’s never been to maximize ithat exposure. And in the meantime a 4th gives every scout and analysis 30+ opportunities to poke holes in his game.

I think between known later second round/undrafted this year if that’s how it’s looking and coming back for another run, it’s a no brainer. Worst case he’ll go in next year with same projection. Best case he’s show some things, with much higher usage.

I just want chip-on-his-shoulder reece to come back and lead this team of scrappy youngsters

When you say “place” in college does that mean not Cville…?

I’d rather have blue Cain than a returning Reece. The team is going to be terrible next year anyway so buh bye Reece time for the future.

You think the team would be terrible with Reece? That’s certainly a take

I think he can reach that next level at UVA. Reece isn’t like a Casey or a Shayok who will blossom in an open system. He needs to show he is willing to take the shot when it’s available. Be able to break down a defender to create a play when nothing is on and lead a team l.

All those things are possible in Charlottesville with the Hoos.

That’s what I feel too… amazing college player…not really a “put in a slot” nba player…so unless the right system….he is not going to really be considered a piece to fill a need. It’s not a dis on him… it’s just what it is

Truly awful next year either way.

HOT TAKE INCOMING Not a diss on Reece, but if Ty still isn’t viewed as bonafide NBA player at this point in his career, with his talent and vision etc., no way Reece is going to make much of an impact, but then again, I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. Ty is a demonstrably better shooter too.
