Felt like an appropriate place to post but curious how well some guys are remembered from the last decade! @SeanJCrow and I put together some stats over the last 10 completed seasons to see if people are able to guess the UVA player (no repeats in each set of 10 and we couldn’t pick the same guy in the same year as each other).

Here’s my Lefty story. I was in the Pep Band 1978-1982. At a game against Maryland in 1979 or 80, band members wore bald wigs (not exactly original) and passed out in the student section Xeroxed copies of Lefty’s face with a gas gauge printed on his forehead, needle pointing to E. Naturally the students used the picture to taunt Lefty the entire game.

Our seats were next to the visitors’ locker room passageway. At halftime we were all hooting and hollering as the Terps players and coaches passed by. As Lefty approached, he moved his left hand to the side of his bald head and promptly extended his middle finger.

At first my jaw dropped, and then I cracked up. It was perfect.
