🤔 Remembering some guys

Seeing Andrew Kennedy in a recent social media pic brought back memories. Damn you, Fennis Dembo!

That might be the most 20th century bitch basketball picture I’ve ever seen.

He looks like the guy who was cast to play the 4th guy on a HS basketball team for a TV drama but he’s like 32 and has to shave every 3hrs to keep the 5 oclock shadow in check

He looks like a guy who shoots his foul shots underhand, and will corner and lecture you for an hr at a party about why his approach is better.

He’s a headband away from being Morgantown’s most wanted

Figured I’d throw this one in here. Pete Gillen father–son camp. I’m sure my son was in the building somewhere :grinning:

Mapp might be the biggest “what if” in UVa hoops history. Gillen era might have turned a lot different if he never got hurt, and Diop didn’t go straight to the league.

Would have been a nasty team with Mapp at 100% at PG, Mason at SG, Smooth at SF, Watson at his natural PF position, Diop at C, with Hall as 6th man.

@JoeBoxley making me think of all the players who had insane HS mixtapes but mediocre careers.

Ryan Harrow is the first guy who comes to my mind:

It was in that exact moment that Will decided his future was in private equity, not basketball

You know, it is a phenomenal mix tape. But also maybe people shouldn’t have been shocked his career was a little disappointing. There were like maybe two jump shots in that entire thing. Every highlight was a result of him being an athletic freak playing against high schoolers.

If he was 6’6 like Justin Anderson maybe he could have really turned that athleticism into something at the next level. But being 6’2, I mean, those are nasty highlights for a 6’2 guy, but you’ve got to be able to shoot it at that height.
