⛹️‍♂️ Ryan Dunn - Official Thread

I dont watch enough. Just assumed would have seen Dre fillin the lane more on fast breaks

Unfortunately. I feel like we’ve seen the Hawks go down that road before and it hasn’t been great for anyone.

Rebounds and Blocks that’s Capela same for Okongwu
Rebounds Blocks Steals glue work, that’s supposed to be Dre
Steals shots and huslte in the backcourt thats Murray.

If you put RD and Capela on the court at the same time you have a big and a little version of essentially the same player and cut out even more floor spacing since neither are a threat outside of 5 feet.

Not saying all that as a knock on RD, just hope that he would land in a better spot than Atl that can actually maximize his potential, that’s what he needs currently as an unfinished product.

Would love to see RD as a Knick. Thibs values guys who hustle and play defense and know the game. Unfortunately, RD’s skill set (and lack-of-skill set) is very much like Mitchell Robinson, except that Robinson is about five inches taller, and I’m not sure you can carry two players like that.

Thibs would be a great coach for RD. But you’re right about the fit with Mitchell a similar issue he would run into with ATL.

Now that I’m thinking about it with my back of the napkin math, it really is tough to find a landing spot for a springy defensive minded 4 that doesn’t handcuff him alongside a similarly skilled player and run the risk of bogging down the offense.

I hope it works out for RD, but I’m a little nervous about this decision. He still seems too raw at this point and the NBA will not show much patience if his offense (and NBA defense) doesn’t develop fast enough.

So is he in with both feet? Or testing? Assume the former but didn’t see for sure

I believe the pace the NBA plays at will be good for RD’s offense. He shots will be better because he won’t have time to think. Catch and shoot is not his game but I believe he will find his shot when he is involved in the offense

RD was a warrior for us. Great kid. Great family. All the things we look for in a player- will miss him.

In the 1990’s when Fresh and I played, he would be a two-year All ACC guy for sure. Wish him nothing but the best. Played hard and had some SWAG which was refreshing. Best of luck to RD and Fam.

Just saw a tweet that said when Herb Jones is on the floor, he keeps both teams from scoring.

I have a feeling folks might be saying the same thing about RD next year. And I mean that as a compliment. Herb Jones is a helluva defensive player.

Eh idk about that tweet. Jones has developed his offensive game quite a bit in the NBA. Averaging 11ppg this season on 50% overall FG, 42% from 3 and 87% from the line

This game is somewhat instructive though in that even with Herb having much improved shooting from 3 this season, he is still getting treated as a non-shooter and New Orleans is dealing with a super-clogged paint that they can’t loosen up. The playoff bar for contributing can be high.

They say the same thing about Tony Bennett on the sideline

Ryan Dunn athletic ability is out of this world. He’s the most athletic player in UVA basketball history that I have seen, IMO.

Years ago, the line was that the only person who could hold Michael Jordan under 20 points was Dean Smith.

JA says hello

Of course he’d probably be number 2. But Dunn at 6’8 is an absolute force of an athlete. The guy shot blocking ability is just elite for someone who is 6’8.

Tough to argue with either Dunn or JA, but Adam Hall could flat out sky.
