šŸ€ Ryan Odom Transition

I remember driving there in the 90s and the welcome sign said Welcome to Farmville, Industrial Capital of Virginia. Something like that.

Wait, I thought you said you didn’t understand. Oh, you just meant you didn’t agree?

I did understand lol, you’re right. I just wanted an excuse to do the ā€œstrong-ass offerā€ bit. You would know about bits, you’re constantly doing an unfunny one

Then why did you say you didn’t? I guess you don’t take the honor system very seriously and therefore anything you say in the future is not to be trusted.

Well tbf, I didn’t actually say ā€œI didn’t understandā€. I said it was ā€œhard for me to understandā€ which is different. Reread the original post lol

Thank you. Finally you understand.

I’m also joking. We’re definitely not that cool.

Too much hopium. If UVA basketball was a stock, I’d be shorting it right now…. It feels like we’re closer to being a mid-major than a top 25 program. I hope Odom proves me wrong.

Genuinely can’t believe how quickly we’ve doom spiraled over what has generally speaking been a very well received assistant coach hire lmao.

Can we at least wait and see what our fuckin roster looks like. It’ll only take a couple weeks I promise.

Feels like we are too well funded to not be at least an annual bubble team (whatever side of the bubble you prefer).

Curious as to your perception of the current market price

What boards are you reading? Most of what I read here is doom and gloom. Hell, this place SPECIALIZES in pessimism.

Yep. Only to short it you cant get an borrow

I think with our NIL (7-9M) combined with Odom’s track record of never underperforming (at worst performing on par with expectations), it’s not a big leap to think we can go right to being a top 25 program. Odom has adapted SO much to his personnel over the years, that’s what excites me the most about him. His ability to coach widely varying styles is what really makes this an excellent hire in the era of year-to-year roster construction. JMO

That’s not a doom spiral.

It’s buyer exhaustion leading to a loss of momentum.

Nobody really cares about griff. Unless it’s in re that other guy.

Buy the dip

Obviously everyone is far too negative

I think Odom was the right hire for UVA…emphasizing for UVA. He is a good coach who does things in a way that can be successful here. I can’t think of anyone else they could have gotten I would have preferred. The alternatives were either to make a much more risky hire, thin resume at a lower level, or go with someone like Pitino who would probably need to adjust here.

Telling. Damning, some might say.

Annoying post. I’d planned to use my preconceived biases about [insert name of any person or institution who I think is responsible] to develop an opinion about this hire despite having very limited knowledge of the process and how it was managed. Now my whole plan is ruined. Thanks.
