FWIW, Hoop Explorer is very down on this roster, has them at #67: hoop-explorer.com/TeamEditor?evalMode=false&gender=Men&team=Texas&year=2025%2F26&

They basically project Swain and Pope to be above average and everyone else to be kinda OK (or not very good in Wilcher’s case). Makes some sense when you dig into how each player with significant college minutes graded out in RAPM on their previous teams relative to the other players on the team:

  • Pope: 5th
  • Weaver: 6th
  • Swain: 4th
  • Traore: 4th
  • Vokietaitis: 6th
  • Wilcher: 7th
  • Heide: 8th

So their team is a lot of secondary players (in terms of impact); maybe they will do better in different roles, but I definitely see a downside case for them. Also, only having 3 guards and the 3rd guard being Wilcher seems like a problem for them.

I’m still a buyer of Simeon Wilcher stock. If it doesn’t work out, and I can’t unload it, I’ll just put it in my metaphorical basement next to my Brandon Jennings (the elder) stock.

FWIW EvanMiya generally liked their Portal gets (though I’d say stopped short of ā€œloveā€):

Swain - #31 transfer - 5-star
Heide - #125 transfer - 4-star
Traore - #159 transfer - 4-star
Vokietaitis - #311 transfer - 3-star
Wilcher - #384 transfer - 3-star

Plus they do have a couple of solid returners in Pope (who would’ve been a 4 or 5-star transfer) and others, whereas of course we have no proven returners to augment our transfer overhaul.

For comparison, EvanMiya had our haul as:

Hall - #35 - 5-star
Thomas - #36 - 5-star
Tillis - #52 - Four Star
White - #121 - 4-star
Onyenso - #371 - 3-star
Lewis - #451 - 3-star

In terms of incoming class rankings, Miya ranks our haul as 17th and Texas as 27th. Not that drastic a difference.

Anyways, long way of saying, I think it’ll be a good matchup, Q1 on the resume and a game that the Hoos can win but in all likelihood will be a tossup depending upon which team comes together the quickest and how ready the Hoos are for a big road contest.

Step backwards on the doxxing front, putting the name of the building in the video:

Though maybe they have a promotional deal with the building? Oh, also, Sam Lewis is here.

Needed something to fill the cat/ukulele void, I guess.

A bit of a weird spot. Things might have changed, but when I was there this building was probably 95%+ grad students. Makes some sense for athletes though

Only had one cat and that was a long, long time ago. Fierce badass he was; lived outdoors pretty much fulltime. Here he is telling me to GTF away from this rabbit he’d just caught and was preparing to eat by my last C’vlle place our Rt 20 north a few miles (no doubt he would’ve eaten me, too, if one of us was either bigger or smaller). My ex-gf brought him out to Seattle which is where this photo of him on the roof of my old house was taken. Part of cloud-topped Mt Rainier in the lower right of the sunrise photo.

I feel bad saying this, but I keep forgetting Sam Lewis exists.

Trying to remember all the new guys I’m usually just like:

  • German umlaut dude
  • Bucket getter (and cat man) from San Fran
  • Nice passing pseudo-big from UCIrvine
  • BYU fella
  • Former Kentucky shot blocker
  • Bald guy
  • The Belgian pro (maybe)
  • French beanpole
  • Non-bouncy big from Virginia
  • Chance Mallory

I need something distinctive to remember Sam Lewis by. I’ve watched his highlights several times and it all just fades into my mental background. That’s not hating on his game I just… don’t ever think of him, ha.

The first cat pre-existed me with the fiance, but my uncle (huge hoo fan, big reason I went to UVa) found one that looked a lot like her in his church parking lot and dropped him off with my mom for us :upside_down_face:

Now we have Ralph (you can guess the namesake) too. He’s not very well behaved, but he is entertaining.

I thought you might’ve stolen this from me…

Pic from 2013, both long gone now but I had a very similar looking cat and bearded dragon :dragon:

44.3% from 3 doesn’t stand out?

To be fair, it is a lot of new guys to try to keep track of.

But I feel like someone (probably @Cuts_from_The_Corner) called Sam Lewis a more athletic version of IMac.

I think the issue with Lewis is he was the first guy to sign, and then we kind of got a deluge after + he’s not a projected starter. Just kinda got lost in the shuffle.

Still excited for him though, those shooting numbers are legit and nice to theoretically have him for 2 years.

Make Malik ā€œCat man from San Franā€

And Lewis can be ā€œSam Sam the Bucket Manā€

Or Sam the Butcher / Bringing Alice the Meats

Fresh had a Toledo one - Holy Toledo (if he likes to pray). Mud Hen if he doesn’t?

Cmon folks - we are one weekend away from workouts - we should’ve settled this already!

No on paper he seems great. I’m not saying anything about his game. I just keep forgetting him. I need him to like get a mohawk or have a pet lizard on his shoulder or something for my brain to retain him. There’s too many new guys!

Think he called Jacari that (and also more complete) but could be wrong
