Boeheim said it was a player who barely played against them. He said the most any Cuse player was within 6 feet of him was 48 seconds. Pretty easy to deduce who it was based on that info. It could be 1 of 3 guys depending on Boeheim’s definition of “barely played.”
From the Ohio side:

The guy with the glasses sounds pretty confident. Haha
Man, they didn’t even know what year we won our last championship. And no mention of UMBC.
Amateur-hour. They’re no Wyatt Williams.
I’d be thrilled if I was an Ohio fan. Got a 4 seed coming off a pause when they easily could’ve ended up with a healthy 3 seed.

We are the lowest 4 seed and FSU is the highest, so they got the better draw.
Zags got a really favorable draw. 3rd 2 seed, lowest 3 seed and lowest 4 seed.
Always things with which to quibble, but WVU at 10 is a joke
I was just looking at the seeds and thought the exact same thing.
And the 3 & 4 seeds who aren’t at full strength going into the tournament. Feels like the NCAA wants to give Gonzaga a path to being unbeaten going into the FF.
They passed the eye test in the games that I watched. Who would you have had higher?
They’re historically so inconsistent though that I can’t trust them in my bracket. Despite that, every year I usually find myself putting them in my Final Four.
Off WVa and Kansas are ahead of Oklahoma State imo. Must’ve been purely because of the NET. But in the end I don’t really care which Big 12 teams are 3 seeds and which are 4 seeds.
Ohio had the lead at Illinois with 7 seconds left. Good team: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFbA5plzYA0
For some reason Ohio has me thinking San Fran. Completely baseless but in terms of roster size etc reminds me of that dangerous match up for us. Of course we were in experimentation mode on offense and with rotations. We know ourselves much better now
It was the 3rd game of the season. You really think the same result happens if Illinois and Ohio play today?
I don’t think any one is saying that at all. But at the same time, you can’t discount that these guys were able to hang with the big boys for at least one game.
I remember seeing that score early in the season and thinking Illinois was hugely overrated. In retrospect though may be that they played a tough team and survived.
I’m going the opposite way here…pending that we are close to full strength, I think we win by 8-12. Every year, a team gets pumped up as a trendy upset pick, to the point that the pick is near consensus amongst experts. Feel like both UVA and Nova are getting that treatment this year.
We should be able to clearly exploit Jay size-wise, and they are poor enough on defense that Sam and Trey can get some comfortable looks. We also have the defensive guards to rotate/spend time on Preston.
Again, caveat that we are not missing multiple starters. But I think we will have an appropriate level of respect, without getting caught flat footed. Team has to be juiced to play after getting the ACCT ripped from underneath them.
Usually, the best time of the season to catch a highly regarded team is early in the season in this situation. No one thought San Francisco could hang with UVa early in the season but it happened. Fast forward to now and I think UVa wins that game by 15. Too much experimenting going on then. Most teams know who they are by this time of the year.
I’m not discounting Ohio, especially with what UVa has experienced this week. I expect a sluggish start with things smoothing out as the game goes along.
I picked USF that game. Think we drill em now though
