Gonna try to manifest Allmond-Peck-Coleman-one of White/Gibson/Howard/Mingo into existence
Ben McCollum and Iowa offered Quentin Coleman
Who and who offered? We talking D3 hoops now on this board?
Iowa guy. Did I get name wrong? Womp
Nah, just messin
Ogden’s dad has been at Texas with 4 different coaches across multiple tenures on staff…mom is a Texas double-alum as well. Here’s to hoping he’s always wanted to get out of Austin for college?
So for center: 3 main targets seem to be Diane, Taylor, and Adkins (@HoozGotNext has mentioned before center recruitment is basically swingbig and treat it as an immediate impact transfer). Cody Peck and an offer to Symon Ghai or Yabbi Aklog still in play.
Wing Forward: Billy Blanco White and Cole Cloer (Made Billy’s top 10, and we are hoping even with new offers we are in Cole Cloer’s list within a list). Hope we offer Julius Avent (especially with Carrere already on roster as that 3pt specialist wing)
Guards: Was Gibson, now maybe not Gibson. Also want Quentin Coleman (who isn’t a sure thing to UVA, an adjustment from the Tony Bennett era where we took landing these late risers for granted), and maybe try to land one of the stud guards (Mingo, Smith Jr, Hodge, County who will probably not have us in his top 5, Ogden who will end up at Texas). Possible offers could be Young MgBako at Oak Hill and Colben Landrew. Also Jalyn Collingwood at Sidwell as a guard wing.
Having gone to a Texas football game last year, I regret to inform the board that Austin is freaking awesome
The most telling part of Ogden’s recruitment is how few schools he had to cut to get down to a final 6. There’s a line at the end of the On3 article listing the other offers he received. Only like 4 or 5 teams were cut.
Point being most coaches didn’t think it was worth the bother given the Texas connection.
Let’s see how well we can predict these final lists. Assuming the following recruits produce a similar final 6 or 8 or whatever, is UVA included?
Junior County
- UVA makes the cut
- They do not
Bryson Howard
- UVA makes the cut
- They do not
Christian Gibson
- UVA makes it
- They do not
Cody Peck
- UVA is on the list
- They are not
Something somewhat relevant with Junior County, I know that BYU apparently has a sense he’s not very interested in them.
I know that was considered a massive roadblock by many since he’s in Utah.
I’m curious if any high majors go after Josh Manchester. Remember him? He’s the kid from Wisconsin that Bennett had visit once. He doesn’t look the part, that’s the problem, but he produces.

That’s the wing/forward on Bryson Tiller’s team that had a big Peach Jam, we suspected they were looking at.
Strong looking kid
Evidently, as has been noted before, Coach Odom is “swinging for the fences” with the first recruiting class, and it makes a lot of sense to me. If he connects on a couple, that’s great. If he misses on them all, he still has the transfer portal next spring. Since one of the biggest factors in future recruiting will be the team’s performance, if Virginia does well in the coming season, it should be quite attractive to transfers (and 2027 prospects) even if the money won’t be as good next year. (At least, it is my understanding that it will be more limited.) If UVa misses on the elite 2026 recruits, it will have scholarships to offer. I’m not sure I like this new world of roster management, but it does seem to me that, when viewed from afar, Coach Odom is following a smart course. Of course, my perception of events could be far off the mark rendering this post as mostly nonsense.
Good post, and also, I’m stealing this for all my posts:
(Complete nonsense, in my case)
I’m almost wondering if we have a very deliberate model relating to rev-share/NIL that we’re pursuing. Something like go after the big guys who would take up a bunch of the budget. Hopefully get a yes/no relatively quickly. Then you pivot to the best available and give them above market offers.
Given we’ve seen how they operated in the portal, I do trust they have a plan.
I really think we’re going to see some big coaching changes this offseason and the portal/decommits market might quite good.
